nasdax33 0 Posted September 30, 2010 As per Rotoworld: "Kevin’s been chomping at the bit, and he’s ready to go. But sometimes you need to look at it objectively," coach Jim Schwartz said of Smith, who is bouncing back from an ACL injury. "I know this, he’s a lot closer now than he was in preseason." Schwartz's words suggest that Smith is not yet 100 percent, but circumstances may dictate that he re-enters the Lions' backfield mix this weekend. Is it possible with Best's lingering turf toe issue that Smith can see significant playing time or does Maurice Morris fill in while Best recovers?
kliquid 1 Posted September 30, 2010 I think it'll be Morris this week, but if Best misses more than this week, we could see Smith back on the field.

bluesrams2 0 Posted October 1, 2010 Even if Best misses more than one game, and Smith is fully healed, there has to be a better option on your WW than Smith. Someone like Torain, Blount, BJGE, even a true handcuff like Scott or Ringer. No back has any FF significance in that backfield besides Best.

Torain, Blount, BJGE, Scott and Ringer are better than a guy that was in the top 20 in PPRs last year? If Smith gets touches with Best out, he has a hell of a lot more value than the guys you just named. Maybe not long term, but nobody is talking long term here. They are talking about picking a guy up until Best is back.

Kevin Smith was never anything special anyway, and he's only 9 months removed from surgery. I just don't see him doing much. If he comes back his situation won't stay the same as last year.. He'll more than likely split some time because of the knee. Kevin Smith was not good last year because of talent. It was strictly opportunity. His skill and opportunity are both less right now than they were last year.
