INTs on 2 Point Conversions

Recommended Posts

Do interceptions on 2 point conversions not count in official NFL stats for the QB. Matt Ryan threw an interception when Atlanta went for 2 late in the game. SI.com has his stat line listed as 3 TDS and 1 INT. NFL.com has it as 3 TDS and no INTs.

Just wondering if anyone knows the official rule on that issue. I am playing someone this week who has Matt Ryan and INTs are -2 points. That two points could become important this week.

It doesn't count as a pick and SI.com has it 3/0 for Ryan and 3/1 for Flacco...

Nope. It doesn't. The only thing that goes in the stats is if they made it or not.

For instance if he wouldn've made it he wouldn't have gotten 2 passing yards, or if Michael Turner would've ran it in he wouldn't have got 2 rushing yards. They only would've got a 2 point conversion.

You are correct. SI.com does have it as 3/0 for Ryan. My mistake. When I looked I thought it said 3/1 for Ryan.

So it must be the official NFL scoring rule that INTs on 2 point conversion just don't count. Seems a little odd, he threw an interception so why would the NFL not count it. If a player scores in a 2 point conversion, the player gets credit for scoring 2 points.

Oh well, official NFL scoring rules govern so that is the way it goes.

I think it would add some excitement to the game if the defense were allowed to return a blocked PAT kick for one point or return an INT/fumble for 2 pts.

That's what they do in college. It would have been great last night. Falcons up by 5 points going for a 2 point conversion. The DB that intercepted Ryan would have easily been gone the other way for 2 points. Thus, all of the sudden you have a 3 point game, Ravens have 2 timeouts and 20 plus second. They would have had a chance to get into FG range to tie the game.

Would add an incredible amt of excitement. Reed would have returned the 2 point conversion last night and Balt would have only been down 3 and not 5.

This may be kind of crazy, but I'd like to see the PAT line moved from the 1 1/2 all the way back to the 20 yard line. Keep the kicks at 1 pt but change the 2 point conversion to a 3 point conversion. And absolutely allow the defense to score on a PAT return.

I'd like to see the goalposts set on some type of turntable so they spin at about 120 rpm while the kicker is attempting a PAT. If he can get the ball thru, he gets the point.
