I am getting a buttload of parts from a guy I found on craigslist who was parting out a 1965 Mercury Park Lane 4 door. One part, that is totally impractical, due to it's age, might also be worth big bucks. How many of these are left?

 

Factory 1965 Mercury fire extinguisher and mount.

 

What do you think that will sell for on eBay with better pictures? I think more than I paid for everything. $175.

They should've put that in the Ford Pinto.

LOL ... yeah, not sure you had time to open the trunk and grab the fire extinguisher when your Pinto exploded.

 

Mercury was like a step below Lincoln (all part of Ford) ... it was an affordable, full sized, full power car. The kind of car that would crush a Pinto. AKA .... a boat. My car is 18 feet long, and it's a 2 door. The Park Lane was the top trim level for the Mercury Monterey. Almost a Lincoln. So, it came either from the factory or the dealer with this Merc-O-Matic fire extinguisher (including other fancy new safety devices like seat belts) and I am nuts about 65 Mercurys, and I've never seen one before.

 

If I get less than $200 for it ... I'll really be disappointed.
