Skinny_Bastard 154 Posted January 17, 2012 The Giants vs Packers game might have been a lot closer if the hail-mary play didn't work right before the half, which brings up a good question. Why don't teams do this more often? Why not sling one up right before the final seconds of the game into the endzone? Is it because quarterbacks don't want that dreaded 'INT' in there stats? Are players so concern about stats that a low probability play to give the team a chance to score 7 more simply isn't worth it?
Vikings4ever 496 Posted January 17, 2012 Because, especially when teams are on their own end of the field, the risk of a fumble or INT being returned for a TD outweighs the reward of a Hail Mary TD pass.

You have to be close enough to throw the Hail Mary, but not close enough to kick a field goal. It then has to be the last play of the half. It is not exactly a high percentage play and the opportunities to try it are small.
