I didn't see a thread started by swirven, so here ya go.

 

Discussion and arguments....begin now.

NCAA Thursday:

 

Pittsburgh (+4) for 3 units LOSER

Adding Pitt 2nd H (+1)@-105 for 3 units LOSER

 

The game seems to set up nicely for Pitt. They lost to Youngstown St last week, a great surprise, and something that has driven the game's opening number of -2.5 to -4 or higher last I checked. Pitt was a disappointing team last year, still went to a bowl game, but finished 6-7. They lost star RB Graham during the year, ran an offense under a new head coach that didn't fit the strength of QB Sunseri, and got abandoned by their head coach prior to their bowl game. They come in with a new coach, the veteran Sunseri, and RB Graham is back and looked sharp last week. Cincinnati won a share of the Big East title last year, but lost their QB Collaros and RB Pead to graduation. Key distinction. Pitt has their skill players in place, Cincinnati has to replace them. I think Cincinnati comes back down to earth this year and will certainly struggle early. Pitt is motivated to bounce back from a bad loss, with the talent in place to score more points than Cincy. I'll take a somewhat contrarian approach and take Pitt to play much better this week.

It's up to Cincy -6 and 50 O/U, I've seen it at -4 and 49 earlier this morning. Think I'll join Philly and take Pitt plus the pts and may also go with the U.

SCar QB Connor Shaw is likely to play, but his throwing shoulder is gimpy. They are calling it a deep bone bruise. If he re-injures it, or cant go at all, SCar is f0cked. I think they said on the radio East Carolina is getting 21 points? Im guessing a huge dose of Marcus Lattimore keeps this game much closer.

Mississippi State -3

Oklahoma State -10.5

Air Force +21

Illinois AZ State over 48.5

 

Basically I see improved play from Penn State away from home and all the noise. Miss State is my pick to make a 2012 splash. Oklahoma State, by my numbers should be a 3 touchdown favorite. Air Force will score and Michigan will be hungover from the Bama whooping. Illinois and cant play defense but should score and make this a back and forth game.

I'm not sure who's making more money on this game, that Dik head ref that called a phathom holding call on Pitt's TD run (check his overseas bank account for big bucks rolling in) or Tino whatever his name is...I would come out and start the 2nd 1/2 with anyone but this clown...5 sec left and he has 2-guys open in the endzone, and decides to float it out of the endzone??? Dude, there's 5 sec on the clock!!!!

 

Hopefully they keep sucking and the under will hit to allow a wash!

Doubling down. Shady first half, as Pitt seemed to really outplay Cincy in the 2nd quarter. But red zone miscues, turnovers, and blatantly bad officiating cost on the scoreboard. I'm thinking the first half fix is over, and Pitt asserts itself in the second half. Or, I'm an idiot. Either way.

"Overall, my ratings favor Utah by 11 points in this game but Utah State applies to a 68-16-1 ATS home underdog momentum situation and a 42-12 ATS game 2 angle and the strong technical analysis favoring the Aggies will get me leaning slightly their way in this game."

 

I'll take his original angle of Utah by 11 and have then cover the 7 pts, and disregard all that other analysis jargon...I think his record would be better off if he just went with his original thoughts.

I guess when you lose to Youngstown State, you pretty much suck, picking Pitt to cover against Cincy makes me pretty much suck. Good thing I'm in an officepool share pool, makes these dumb arse bets easier to handle!

I can't get a grasp of that Penn St / Virgina game, will Penn St be better served playing away from Happy Valley or are they just a bad football team that has way too many distractions?

I think PSU will play better now getting that 1st week out of the way in Happy Valley, plus Ohio is not a bad team. Nothing impress me about UVA either, I think the game will be pretty close. Feel good about 10 points.
