Chelone Miller, found dead in Mammoth on Sunday, April 7.

Snowboarder Chelone “Chilly” Miller, a 29-year-old Mammoth transplant from New Hampshire and the brother of skier Bode Miller, died on Sunday, April 7, according to Mono County Sheriff’s authorities.

 

Miller “was found unresponsive in his van in the Mammoth Lakes area at 12:45 p.m.,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

 

“Mono County paramedics, Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, Mammoth Lakes Police Department and Mono County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the scene.

 

“Upon arrival, it was determined that Miller was deceased.

 

“Cause of death is currently being investigated by the Mono County Sheriff’s Department pending autopsy results.

 

“Foul play is not suspected in the cause of death.”

 

Miller burst onto the snowboarding scene at about the same he burst onto the trail bike scene. In 2005, Miller was involved in a dirt bike accident that left him in a coma for 11 days.

 

Upon recovering, he moved to Mammoth for the world-class park jumps in the terrain parks at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.

Talked to his brother in law today. He died of a seizure in his sleep. He had seizures from a head injury back in 2005

Just heard that his father, Barney Miller is incredibly distraught. They anticipate that Fish and Wojo will indeed be Pall-Bearers at the funeral. :o

His dad's name is Woody. The family was raised in a cabin in Franconia, NH without electricity. Pretty cool family.
