Funny poker hand of the day

Recommended Posts

So, long story short, I am up $90 playing cash on the day, so freerolling into a $20 donkament. Even stole the "No cash value" chip up chip for my chip collection at the first break. Instant karma coming.

So, after the first break, our table breaks, and I move to a new table. 11k. Blinds are 200/400, I am in the 1 seat and the BB. Guy in the 4 seat raises it to 1200. He has about 13k. I wake up with AK. I raise to 4k. He calls. He's a bad player. I put him on a worse ace.

Flop comes J, 8, 2 rainbow.

I c-bet 6k.

Kid tanks. Now, I've played this kid before. I know he's bad. But he's good enough to know my bet is an all in. I can't not go all in for my last 1k chip on the turn with like 22 to 1 pot odds and AK. What do you think he has that is so hard for him to fold here? He calls. A,7.

There's one really good way to beat me. Play like an idiot and get lucky. This guy, always seems to have my number.

Turn is a 7, I instabet my last 1k. He insta calls. Brick river. I'm going home.

First I say, "Really? You gotta put that 7 on the turn?" and then I look at the moron and I say, "Nice call."

and he just says, "Thanks."

Couple other hands that made up for it. I nailed a gutshot where I turned the nuts, got it all in 3 ways and felted 2 players early. Was up about $200 right away in the live game. Gave pretty much all of it back over the next couple hours. Playing speculative hands that didn't hit. This one guy kept reraising me and I had folded some pretty big hands to him, but I knew when I got him, it was gonna be easy. So, I had K,8 suited. bout 120 behind on a 1/2 table. Flopped 2 pair K,8,3 and this guy bet at me. I called. Turn was another K. I'm hoping he has AK now, or even pocket threes. I got him. He bets. I min raise. He tanks and then shoves. I snap call, and turn over my cards and he yells, "God Damnit!" and he throws his cards down on the table and one is a king and the the other one goes flying off the table. Right away the guy is apologizing for the outburst. I ask if his hand is dead, floor is right there and rules it's live. A jack. I survive the river, and double up.

So that was nice. I knew I was gonna get that guy, the way he was playing.

It's funny when it happens to someone else.

After that hand with my K8 against the KJ, I said, "That's just a cooler, man. Nuthin you can do about that. Case King on the turn. Just a cooler."

Don't wanna scare away the fish. Kinda true. Maybe not. I would not have shoved there with KJ.

Here's the question: What if it was a J on the river?

WWYD?

You have the hand won and the other players card leaves the table, and comes back, and then hits the river and it means instead of winning $130, you lose $120.

I got another one. New chick to the table. Big ring on her finger. Raises it pre to $7. I call with A,6 off. "The Worst Ace". Flop comes 6,6,8. She cbets $15 and I call. Turn is an Ace. Bingo! She checks and I check. River is a brick. She bets $15. I raise to $45 and she calls, with A, 10. and starts complaining. "I didn't think you would call a raise with A,6." and I said, "What about pocket sixes?"

A6 is not the nuts. AA has me crushed and I gotta pay her off. I think I maximized my win there. Chuckly, annoying chicks with too much perfume and cheap shoes ... having a fruity drink, always seem to tilt me and take all my money. So, this is a miracle. A sign from God that the curse is over.

True story: Saw a chick clapping her hands as the pot was pushed to her, and she said, "Yay! It's all about me!" Took all my money. Play like an idiot ... and get lucky ... beats me every time!

Check this out.

Commerce 1-2 last week

Drunk guy has been playing crazy all day. Everytime you check to him he'll either bet big or go all-in. Great guy to play with.

I'm not in this hand, but for our purposes it was heads up. Flop comes AKJ rainbow. Chick that plays pretty snug checks to him, he shoves all in. They both have about 120 or so. She calls. He immediately starts boo-hooing. Turn is a 5, River is a 4. No flush. She flips over the nuts. He sits there crying for at least 30 seconds. The dealer takes his unprotected hand. When he realizes the dealer took it. He starts saying he had Q10 too. Multiple floors get involved, but no one can come to a decision somehow.

Get this. He grabs the entire muck and flips it over and goes hunting for a queen and a ten right in front of the floor, and sits them in front of him. Then another floorman comes over and shoos away the other floormen. Neither the dealer nor the chick bother telling this new floorman that he just grabbed the muck and found the nuts and put it in front of him. The floor asks the chick that did everything right if she would agree to a chop. She meekly says yes. I was shocked. I couldn't believe it. Of course, I didn't say sh!t because I don't mind the drunk guy having chips, but god damn the dealers and floormen are terrible.

That is bad. In lots of ways. I've seen worse. One time I turned a full house in a live 1/2 game. Guy in the 9 seat next to the dealer bets one $5 chip, folds to me. I call, as quickly and silently as possible. Apparently, so silently the dealer didn't notice I had called. Swooped in the raisers cards and started pushing him the pot. Kid wouldn't say what he had. I was like, "Cmon dude!" and the floor ruled we split the pot. Wasn't even a big pot. $20 ... but I thought that was pretty bad.

You can guess what I said to the kid next. "Put a friggin chip on your cards if you are in a hand from now on." and he did. Anyone who knows me, and is a good card player, knows that I will put a chip on my cards even if I fully intend to fold. I don't Hollywood, I don't waste time, and I try and keep my actions and timing consistent. It's also not really fair for you to "telegraph your fold" for the players in the hand that intend to play their cards. It's partly out of courtesy. And a good card player, that is looking for these things, will see that.

I also never toss my cards high, or really raise my cards up off the felt at all if I am folding. It's courtesy.

The chip steal was pretty slick. I palmed it in my left hand. The break was coming up. It's quick, color up 25 chips, you can use your add on chip for $15 and get $5k more chips. I had it already in my pocket, pretended like I was checking my phone, before the last hand. So, I lose out on the ability to use it to buy more chips, and for the first time this season I have NOT made the final table, but I add a very rare poker chip to my collection.

One time, during the break, one guy actually picked up his entire stack, in a rinky dink tournament, took 15k in tournament chips out of the poker room.

So, it's good to know that people could cheat in a tournament. I never would risk something like that, trying to buy tournament chips in a cheap tournament, and slip them into a big tournament ... but I know it's possible. I'm sure people try it.

Last time I was at the Mirage and I was playing 1/2, I lost my entire $100 to play with in like 5 minutes. But at the start, I mentioned it was my first cash game in Vegas and if I could keep a chip and they said no.

Anyway, I have a Snoqualmie Chip and several Casino Del Sol chips. I have 2 chips from Casino Del Sol, that should not be out of the casino. No big deal, just for my collection ... but makes them very rare.

Then I also have a chip, Greg Raymer signed to me. Prolly the chip with the most value. It's not dated, but it was before he got busted for trying to get a hooker off Craigslist.

Poor guy. Rich and famous ... just wants his peter tugged by a pretty woman ... hasta pay because he's not very attractive. Goes to jail. Ruins marriage ... possibly. Boy ... if you saw his wife you would understand. Bow wow.

Doesn't seem fair, though. Poor guy.
