TimmySmith 2,782 Posted November 7, 2015 Not really, It's John Mayer covering the Dead with a mostly Dead backup band. Saw them last night, and holy crap did Mayer rock. That dude is a superstar. I take back any criticism I ever had.
fandandy 3,311 Posted November 7, 2015 I bet that was a good show. I actually saw the Grateful Dead years ago at Pine Knob. I have never seen John Mayer but I like his music, much more than the Dead actually. That show was like being in Jerusalem in 1 AD with every just saying "doses, doses, doses." What a trip. IGotWorms 3,405 Posted November 7, 2015 John Mayer is good. He gets a bum rap because he started off with that pretty boy pop stuff, but he's got real talent.

TimmySmith 2,782 Posted November 8, 2015 this thread smells like patchouli A vat of patchouli would not have neutralized the smoke at the Verizon Center the other night. So much open smoking it felt like a concert in the 80's.
ArnieBragg 1 Posted November 8, 2015 I was at the show and also was skeptical about Mayer. A buddy I went with told me prior to the show how great of a guitar "mimic" Mayer is and boy is he right. Had an awesome time and yeah, people just puffing away and not caring about ushers/security at all!! West La Fadeaway was a standout to me.
gutterslut 1 Posted November 8, 2015 I've always thought Arnie and Timmy were the same person. Now they 'both' end up at the same offbeat concert. Hummmmm.
ROCKFORD 134 Posted November 9, 2015 watched the live feed from msg last nite. first time seeing mayer and was very impressed. he may be my new guy since all my others are dead. he took some liberties in the other one jam, but hey, rock on!

ArnieBragg 1 Posted November 10, 2015 I've thought That's what you get for thinking, you should do less of that. And "offbeat" concert? The Verizon center was packed.
