Djgb13 2,339 Posted December 31, 2015 Yes of course if a guy has one that's not registered he won't present it. You're required to register all guns. I've seen guys show up at the pct with 40 guns and rifles during yearly inspections. Dam. See that's a little too much. I'd have maybe a couple different handguns, two hunting rifles and shotguns (in case I take someone hunting with me), and maybe an assault rifle (mostly just to have one and take shooting out at the range). But that many is just too many IMO. But then you've got people who love them and love to collect them
BLS 314 Posted December 31, 2015 He's not saying that's what this law does. He's saying this law infringes someone's rights. As do those other things. And he's saying he's not ok with infringing a person's rights, and in that vein this is no different than those others. Therefore, this should be treated the same as those other examples. You're pretty handy to have around. You should just follow my posts and clarify for the others here because I must suck at making my point.

But it is different. With your other rights, if the gov or someone else violates them, remedies can be taken to restore your rights and prohibit someone from doing it again. With gun rights, you can't restore second graders massacred in their classroom

penultimatestraw 473 Posted January 1, 2016 Your analogy is idiotic antisemitic. Fixed. Always nice to accuse the victims of the Holocaust for allowing it to happen.
penultimatestraw 473 Posted January 1, 2016 That's a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT conversation. Because I'm not willing to allow random searches of anyone's home either, even though I'm CERTAIN it would stem some child abuse, sexual violence, human trafficking and a host of other horrendous crimes. My point being (before you go off on some tangent), that I'm not willing to circumvent our rights. Everybody gets em. Like em or not. Now...if you want to START a new thread about how to curb gun control, AND have a civil discussion on it, then I say let's do it. Maybe we can come up with a solution. We've had several of those threads. Your response is always "enforce the laws that already exist", while everything else is a slippery slope.

JTB 52 Posted January 1, 2016 Can't wait to hear the racial injustice when the black folk have their guns take a away at a higher clip than the whiteys.
BLS 314 Posted January 1, 2016 We've had several of those threads. Your response is always "enforce the laws that already exist", while everything else is a slippery slope. Well, let's start with enforcing those laws first, and if that doesn't work, then we can discuss alternatives? Seems like a logical process, no?
penultimatestraw 473 Posted January 1, 2016 Well, let's start with enforcing those laws first, and if that doesn't work, then we can discuss alternatives? Seems like a logical process, no? Maybe, if the laws are readily enforced. I bet gun advocates would get a lot more respect if they'd do something to identify and improve the implementation of gun regulations, rather than act as obstructionists 99% of the time. Why do you think current gun laws aren't consistently being followed?

Why do you think current gun laws aren't consistently being followed? Hard to stop someone from legally buying a gun in a state with lax gun regulations and bringing them to a state with strict ones and selling them on the black market. That's how a great number of guns used in crimes, especially in the big cities are aquired. The existing laws don't work, that's why they always say to enforce them. The gun manufacturers still get paid.
