I dont have a whole lot of basis for this, but Im believing the kids on this one.

 

He only had 6 students with him, there was banging on the door, he walked over to the door but the banging stopped?? Sounds like he abandoned the kids and is using the protocols as the reason.

 

Nowhere close to a hero if this is true.
