You can get away with dark brown leather or similar, but blue coat with any other color underneath you look like a dope. I'd say black, navy, and brown/camel go with most anything. I doubt anyone is going to look at them and say "wow, that doesn't go with that outfit." And by anyone I mean a chick, because guys don't care. 3 hours ago, WhiteWonder said: long long ago I bought a really nice Polo wool jacket. It's like a weird cross between a peacoat and bomber jacket (black, has a collar, zipper not buttons, not long etc) but it works. It's not overly heavy but pretty warm and works for a lot of occasions. If its in the 20's or something I've got a heavier coat. not that i've looked very hard but I can't ever seem to find another jacket like it so I take good care of it. on a slightly different note, here is a weird clothes shopping thing about me... I don't really like to shop but I used to find that I would end up with something I really liked... a pair of shoes, a golf shirt, a pullover.. whatever... and when I wore it out or lost it or it got ruined in whatever way, I could never find the same thing again. Could sometimes find on Ebay but that was hit or miss. So a few years ago I started immediately buying a second of the same item If I realized I really liked it. For example a second pair of the same golf shoes and just keep them in the closet for when I chuck the first pair. I hear ya. I don't necessarily buy a second one in advance (maybe I should, hmm...) but if I find something that works, I'll keep going back to that well. I just rebought the same exact style of both exercise/everyday sneakers and hiking shoes, but I got a different color of the hiking shoes to mix things up. But black is safest because I never wear black pants, because I don’t work at Olive Garden.

I have a Puma golf pullover that I can’t find anywhere. Had a pair of Nike air max and running shoes that I loved for both running and sometimes casual wear. I found them again on eBay but not the same color so not as nice. There was a style of saucony shoe I loved and they discontinued the style. i won’t buy another of the item until I know I really like it but once I know, I try to jump on another before that model vanishes. Olive I'd say similar, but maybe a little more risky, as it is a color and if say you had on a different green toned shirt, that would look kinda off.
