I would say his release had almost nothing to do with the team losing in arbitration and much more to do with the team signing Matt Chapman at third base and Jorge Soler as their DH. It's not misleading at all I say misleading because the title makes it sound like the team released him directly because he beat them in arbitration and they were upset about it. If they don't sign those other big name free agents, he doesn't get released regardless. but yes, you are correct that it made it easy for them to do.
