Engorgeous George 2,331 Posted November 26, 2024 As a kid I would watch olympic skiing because my family skied. Jean Claude Killy ruled the roost but Amerrica had Billy Kidd. Billy sported cowboy hats and every American kid who was a skier wanted one. My family came out to Steamboat for a ski vacation after seeing the '72 olympics. Steamboat was Billy's home base. My dad bought stetsons for both my brothers and for my kid sister. I never got one. Likely I had commited some mischief and was being punished, I don't really remember. They all still have those hats now half a century later. I guess quality costs money. Still, I'll go cheaper because I am cheap ,and frankly I don't need a hat to last half a century since I don't have half a century left in me. I need maybe a decade hat or hats. They've closed the factory production here but left the retail space. A lot of big time folks have made stops through town to pick one up. I kind of like newsboy style and would probably wear one of those, but it's just as easy to throw on a ballcap and they don't cost as much. They have a cool golf hat...but they named "double bogey."
