TalentScout 2 Posted January 14 I am in. It looks like we have the Japan series again on March 18th-19th so if we want to get things done in time for that we should probably get the draft started around March 4th ish (seems like it usually takes about 2 weeks?) Torn 45 Posted February 5 Hi guys - I really hate to say it, but I can't Commish for the league this season. My wife passed away a few weeks ago (long story and I'll detail it at a later date) and while the initial shock has passed and I'm beginning to recalibrate life as a single Dad with a teen daughter, my available cycles and ability to focus are simply not there right now. I really hope that someone can step up to Commish for a year. I might still be able to participate as a manager, but there is no way I can perform the Commish role to a degree I'd be self-satisfied with under the circumstances. It's more time/work than you think I can and am willing to commit to being Commish next season if needed/wanted but I have to bow out of Commish duties this year.
posty 2,612 Posted February 6 Oh Joe, I am so sorry for your loss…. RIP to your wife and T&P to you and your family…
PSULions 0 Posted February 7 I am so sorry to hear about your wife's passing Joe. My mother-in-law passed away very suddenly last May so we have experienced losing a loved one this past year. Please know that we will be praying for your and your daughter and the rest of the family as you go through this. I am at a good point with my job as I changed banks about 2 months ago and things are going well for me, so I will step up and offer to be the Commish for this year and beyond if necessary. Hope that you feel like you can manage your team as we would had to lose you as an owner, but we all would certainly understand.
TalentScout 2 Posted February 7 I am so sorry for your loss. I can commish for this year if @posty can help with the spreadsheet stuff or can co-commish with PSU. If you want to go into yahoo to "restart" the league and then add us as a commish we can take it from there.
PSULions 0 Posted February 7 Talked to Joe this morning and Morgan has offered to Co-Commish with me so we will take over for Joe while he is dealing with his new life as a single dad.
Torn 45 Posted February 7 I talked with PSU on the phone over my lunch break and he will take over the reins as Commish for this season. Over the upcoming week, I will work with him on some of the details. I am hopeful that Posty can assist with generating the initial keeper and draft tracker sheets as he has done for me over the years. This is always a major help. We'll collectively muddle through it, but I'd suspect a few hiccups along the way. My thanks to you Morgan, as well, for offering to Commish. I'd just talked to Dave (PSU) before I noticed your offer. I do plan on participating as a manager for the season, so I am IN from that perspective. I am completely open to re-owning the Commish role next season or sharing it with PSU (if you guys don't drive him too crazy and he wants to - LOL). More to follow as we shake out the details. But, we WILL have a season this year. I'd suggest that we continue with this thread to confirm the status of the folks who haven't committed to being in yet. I'll let PSU run with haunting those stragglers.

PSULions 0 Posted February 26 Four owners have not listed their keepers for the upcoming season. Please do so over the next day and a half as the deadline is tomorrow at Midnight. Surprised there hasn't been much trade activity yet, but we still have time before the Draft worksheet will be completed (thanks to Posty). Please keep these deadlines in mind so we can start the draft on Monday morning. Almost time!

Please keep these deadlines in mind so we can start the draft on Monday morning. Almost time! Most trades occur after the initial keepers are locked in. I think you'll see a lot of them once the draft tracker is online and managers can all see where the keepers landed within rounds. That spawns the onslaught of moves to move keepers back in rounds to move up in other rounds. p.s. Nice job, PSU! Thanks again for jumping in as Commish - I can now safely say that I wouldn't have had a prayer of doing it this season. I'm barely keeping up with the manager level tasks. I'm thinking I'm going to be a door mat this season but am happy for the distraction.
kysar_soze 7 Posted February 27 Joe - we all would have chipped in to make it work. I'm glad that PSU stepped up to take the reigns. As always - THANK YOU Posty. So sorry for your loss. Distractions are a good thing even if the results aren't what you want them to be. keeping you and the family in my thoughts and prayers. Alex
Torn 45 Posted February 27 I've been negligent by not saying THANK YOU to all for your condolences, t&p's and reach outs via text/phone since I announced my wife's passing. While our acquaintances may be casual, they have continued over a lot of years with many of you and I truly appreciate it. OK, back to fantasy baseball - I was looking at the keeper thread and this looks like a major year for turnover of keeper bats countered by a lot of tier 1-2 arms coming off the board as keepers. Will make for an interesting draft strategy-wise. Historically, the arms were plentiful early in drafts and good bats were scarce due to keepers - seems like the opposite this season. posty 2,612 Posted February 27 I know I have not posted stats from the last two seasons, but I have them in the spreadsheet ready to start getting updated, I just haven't been "in to it" at the moment... It has been a long moment for sure... Probably since May 2023...
PSULions 0 Posted March 1 I have set up the Draft Tracking worksheet with all the trades and keepers along with Yahoo website. Please check everything to make sure it is correct and maybe we can get started before Monday if you are ready to go. We can adjust the trades and picks as they are made. Please ask for access to the worksheet and I can grant via an email. I am tracking the requests for access to the Draft Tracking sheet above an once I have all 12 owners access we can start the draft. 9 with Access - 3 more to go. PSULions 0 Posted March 2 Off to a good start. I have updated the Tracking worksheet with all of the trades. Please make sure you double check my adjustments that all the keepers affected are in the correct slots and on the correct teams.
PSULions 0 Posted March 4 Any crazy picks yet? Been sniped by another owner that just took your guy? I was surprised by the lack #1 SPs that were not taken until later in the 2nd round. Lots of guys loading up for bats and speed.
Torn 45 Posted March 4 No major snipes for me yet. I had a couple of "wishful thinking" players I'd hoped would drop to me, but didn't expect them to, so tough to call those a snipe. I'm in full on "winging it" mode this season. Haven't had much time for research, so going with a combo of "expert consensus" lists and gut feelings. Who knows, I've never won this league, so maybe I'll do better with this method - lol...

vargavpugh 3 Posted March 6 I have a work meeting 8am-4pm tomorrow (Fri) that I’ll have my phone shut off for. I also am attending Marquette/St John’s on Saturday. Game is at 11am. I will be unavailable to make picks during these times. Apologies if this holds up the draft at all.

Torn 45 Posted March 10 We are crushing it on the draft! Already through 22+ rounds in a week. Now that we're more than 2/3 of the way through, I wanted to bring back PSU's earlier question. How are folks feeling about their core team build to this point? At this stage, there HAS to have been a few snipes that have occurred. Any surprise reaches or bargains, IYO? Personally, the last turn was my first snipe fest. I'd expected Realmuto to be there since Varga and Isotope both had C's rostered already. My fallback was the Swiss Army Knife, Willi Castro. Both gone with the 2 picks before mine. Sigh... Had to unexpectedly pivot to shoring up Holds. IMO: Biggest Reach - Xavier Edwards, 5th rd - What was I thinking? Limited track record and has already had one foot injury. Blinded by the speed possibilities - a pure "cross your fingers" pick at an expensive price tag. Biggest Maybe - A.J. Puk, 9th rd - Good selection in general, but too early? I'm guessing he would have still been there for at least 2-3 more rounds. Might be wrong though. If he becomes the closer or a major holds collector while working out of an SP slot, that'll make it a good value. Biggest Bargain - Brandon Woodruff, 20th rd - If he returns healthy within the first month or so of the season, could be an absolute steal and a 3 year keeper.
