Public Land Sale - yes or no

Great idea!  Right after Trump allows the TikTok ban.  :o

Well... The Feds own over 38% of AZ.  That's absurd.  I'd need to see what's planned for AZ sale before I render an opinion.

Also, looking at the map of eligible land in the OP link:  I wonder how much an Aleutian Island would cost?  That would be better than, say, buying a star IMO.

I went to summer camp in Maine on the coast which had a multi-day sailing trip out in the Atlantic as part of the program. We stayed on an island that some kid’s family owned. Ultimate baller move, sail out to your island. Also zombie proof.

If I ever get a billion this is happening.

This is absurdity. As a guy from the upper midwest that was fortunate enough to live on the west coast/southwest for years, I marveled at how much public land there was and spent a lot of time enjoying it. It's amazing for recreation; but not much else. Affordable housing in this country is an oxymoron until 3D printed homes or some other alternative become more widely produced. Builders won't touch "affordable housing" because they can't turn a big enough profit to make it worthwhile. And if Trump has told us anything about himself, it's that he's profit-driven.

This land will all end up in the hands of corporations run by donors.

We need to find a way to use recycled plastic bottles as the main component of 3D printed homes.

I believe that's already in the works, at least for some of the startup companies. IIRC, the new Slate truck will also be made from recycled plastic.

I was unaware of the Slate.

Allow me to aware you. I think I started a thread about it but I'm too lazy to go looking. I like them and am curious to see how they perform.

Update…Good work putting pressure on ballbags trying to push this through, looking like it got yanked. Eat a dlck Mike Lee, scumbag.

From the interwebs

“Initially Senate Republicans, led by Sen. Mike Lee (R‑Utah), included a provision to sell off between 2.2 million and 3.3 million acres of federal land (U.S. Forest Service and BLM) in 11 Western states, aiming to generate up to $10 billion for housing  .

Environmentalists and legislators from both parties sounded the alarm, citing threats to recreation, wildlife, and public access near places like Yosemite, Tahoe, and Big Sur  .

Sen. Lee attempted to revise the proposal: limiting it to BLM lands within 5 miles of population centers and excluding national parks/forests — still affecting roughly 1.2 million acres  .

Then, on June 29, 2025, Lee completely withdrew the public‑lands sale provision, stating he couldn’t secure safeguards to limit buyers to American families and faced broad GOP backlash.”

Unless you were some major corporation who donates to the elect Asshat Mike Lee’s retirement slushfund you weren't sniffing any of this!
