Has been mostly unresponsive in the hospital for almost 2 weeks due to severe pneumonia.  Might need a lung transplant.

Crazy stuff, hope he pulls through, he’s a good dude.

That sucks.  Was never a huge Askren guy but dont mind him.  Boring but he did his thing.  Sucks to hear.  

Also sucks to see guys like BJ Penn and Nick Diaz start to go insane.  CTE for sure.  Both were pretty wild guys anyway but theyve both lost it.  Big Diaz brothers fan here.   Big BJ Penn fan as well.  Guy was dynamite in his prime.  Anyone who started following mma later will never realize.   Its a shame to see these guys not even 50 start to act like this.

Askren was actually still in really great shape, he had gotten signed to a new professional freestyle wrestling league that’s starting up being run by Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.

He was also running one of the most successful youth wrestling clubs in the country

I heard about this through a buddy of mine, but haven’t been following it. Last I heard, the family hadn’t addressed his condition, so I’ve been assuming the worst. Hope he pulls through and makes as full a recovery as possible.

I dont believe his hips were in very good shape.  At least what I have aeen people talk about.

He got hip replacement and I believe he said he’s felt better than he has in years

Its not once what it once was...but anyone needing a break from shlt... watch 2 dudes fight....its soothing haha.   The commitment to be at top level is wild sometimes in MMA.   Training is life not a burden.

Yea I havent followed him enough so yeah.   Hes old however.  With that surgery.  Its hard.    Such fine lines.   Seems like a decent dude, i hope he does well.

I believe he was also on doctor-prescribed TRT recently
