Round 1 is complete, and 45 states remain.

The following states were eliminated:

  • Massachusetts (Group A)
  • New York (Group B.)
  • New Jersey (Group C)
  • Rhode Island (Group D)
  • California (Group E)

Round 2 will be a DOUBLE ELIMINATION round.

The two states that receive the highest number of votes in this round will be removed from the "island."  There are no specific criteria for voting—please use your own judgment.

Although two states will be eliminated, each participant may cast only one vote.  While multiple votes could be allowed, doing so might encourage participants to vote for every option (I would!), which would undermine the process.

In the event of a tie, I will select which state is eliminated, as I will not be participating in the initial voting round.

Texas should have been the first state out.   They’d probably appreciate that.   And if not…
