Strike 6,030 Posted November 10 The following is a great read. It's what I've been advocating for regarding homelessness for at least a decade. I've posted countless times about this concept and my belief that the way to help people who have shown no ability to manage money, and who may have alcohol/drug issues that money will only exacerbate, is not to just give them money but help them become self sufficient in an accountability based way. This achieves that exactly as I've envisioned: https://sentinelcolorado.com/metro/aurora-opens-hybrid-homeless-campus-with-health-care-jobs-and-housing/ Here's a video from the city itself: https://www.auroratv.org/video/inside-aurora-regional-navigation-campus I hope this is successful. weepaws 3,408 Posted November 10 Yeah, let’s teach them how to handle money, let’s show them how they can have some normalcy, teach them how not to over spend but to wisely use their money, hey for every 100 you make the cost of living is 300, come on now, budget correctly. Cost of living is simply ridiculous.
Strike 6,030 Posted November 10 So no one wants to talk about a potential solution for the homeless crisis? Figures. Unless you can whine about Trump you really don't care about the issues you pretend to care about.
Fnord 2,629 Posted November 10 This seems like a good starting point. Definitely a positive that it's completely voluntary, though I question how they will move people through the tiers and eventually encourage them to leave if they are allowed to stay as long as they like. I like it and am curious how it will fare.
