Pretty sure the ref in the booth explained why it wasn’t a penalty.

And he was 100% wrong.  Being a runner doesn't exempt you from a helmet to helmet hit.  Stop being so stupid.

Because we're the only ones that know the rule.

Section 2 - Personal Fouls
ARTICLE 10. IMPERMISSIBLE USE OF THE HELMET

It is a foul if a player:

lowers his head and makes forcible contact with his helmet against an opponent; or
uses any part of his helmet or facemask to butt or make forcible contact to an opponent’s head or neck

These provisions do not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or the helmet in the course of a conventional tackle or block on an opponent.

Penalty: Loss of 15 yards. If the foul is by the defense, it is also an automatic first down. The player may be disqualified.

There is even a video if you're having trouble reading the words.  I know how much you love videos.

Gutterboy doesn’t know the difference between forcible contact and incidental contact. Show him mercy. He never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

The fact that no penalty was called means that there was no penalty?

I love how the video it says "applies to offensive and defensive players both"

Yet every week you see RBs or WRs lower their head to try and truck a tackler.  Many times on thr sideline when they make up their mind they arent going OB and want to let a defender know.

When is that ever called lol?  Ever?  Clearly lowering head and driving it into defender.  (To be fair not sure how else you play football) but clearly driving helmets into would be tacklers.

Either way Gutter is wrong.  He lowerer his shoulder and hit Dart on the shoulder, if a tiny bit of helmet touches together...they dont call that.  You cant detach your head before making a tackle.  Defender hits him shoulder to shoulder.  If you want to ague he got some of his helmet in the process thats fine, but hes not using his head to make the tackle.  He used his shoulder.

In your world where is helmet to helmet “legal”?

How about Vrable going 5 wide from 7 up 15 with 3 minutes left and Giants have no TOs.  Maye almost pick 6.  Then goes 4 wide and Maye takes a hit.

Really trying like hell for that MVP.

It's not my world, it's the NFL rule book.

Again...

So helmet to helmet is legal if it's incidental or you're blocked into an opponent.

The only logical conclusion is that the refs thought it was incidental, which is why they didn't call it.  Looking that the replay, I don't think it was.  To me it looks like he lowered his helmet at the point of contact.  That is the only way I would be "wrong".

Either way, edjr saying that helmet to helmet is legal if you're a runner is one of the dumbest things I ever heard.  He clearly knows nothing about football.

Ohhh I was going to say.

Im looking at Eds video.  Not sure what to call there.  Defender sorta gets squeezed in by blocker.  Seems like a total accident.  Not that accidents arent called.  Shlt happens....doesnt look like hes spearing him with his head down.  Hard to tackle a moving target properly.

You can make the argument that it was incidental.  Players are moving so fast, it's really hard to avoid a collision like that, but the rule is the rule.  To me it looks like he lowered his head.  Did he do this to try and avoid contact?  Debatable.  He gets up celebrating.

Either way, the rule is clear.  The interpretation of the play is where we might disagree.
