Call me...Tim? 0 Posted August 5, 2003 Fellas, I am drafting my team in the 4 Board league. The rules are here: http://www.thehuddleleagues.com/ubb/ultima...c;f=20;t=000025 My 3rd round pick is coming up and I'm probably going to take another WR (after taking Moss and Moulds in 1 and 2). At this point, I can still get a Jimmy Smith, Curtis Conway, Derrick Mason type. Am I nuts? The "best" RB left is basically a Stacy Mack-caliber. I think I can pick at 3.13 and take another WR semi-stud and wwait until rd. 4 for my Kevan Barlow/Trung Candidate type RB. Hell, as you can see from the rules, I only have to start 1 rb, but 3 (and likely 4) WR. It makes perfect sense to me, but I seem to be going against the grain, so I thought I'd hear what you have to say. Help me help FF Today look good. The status of the draft is here: http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2003/o...ns?L=31570&O=
Cornerback 0 Posted August 5, 2003 That makes sense to me. Go for it. I have Mack out scoring J. Smith. The fall off from Mack to Canidate/Barlow is not that great as compared to Galloway/Chambers from Smith. Good luck.
Call me...Tim? 0 Posted August 5, 2003 Thanks for the input, I did take Smith. I'm even now considering taking a WR with 4 (and just committing to the 4 WR start most of the season). Drafting at 13, I was going to be chasing the pack at RB, but I feel like now I'm leading it at WR...which carries some punch in a 1rb/3wr league.
Mark Buffington 3 Posted August 5, 2003 Call me...Tim?: Thanks for the input, I did take Smith. I'm even now considering taking a WR with 4 (and just committing to the 4 WR start most of the season). Go Barlow, Trung and then get heavy on the "liekly back-ups" to see playing time. Lamont Jordon, Lamar Gordon, Elvis Joseph Problem is, you'd likely start a run on back ups. Bill Swerski 0 Posted August 5, 2003 Mark Buffington: Problem is, you'd likely start a run on back ups. Probably but if he can get Jordan and Gordon, he's sitting pretty. I'd also take a flyer on possible starters with mediocre competition, Peterson and Wiley.
Bill Swerski 0 Posted August 5, 2003 BTW, Tusekan is a ###### for taking McAllister over Holmes.
Bill Swerski 0 Posted August 5, 2003 Call me...Tim?: Thanks for the input, I did take Smith. I would have advised taking Stewart. I think he'll have a better than expected season under Mariucci. Projections: James Stewart - 1150, 6, 400, 1 Jimmy Smith - 1100, 8 At your 4th pick, I would seriously consider Warner or Garcia. A QB run usually develops in the mid 4th-mid 5th round in drafts this year. I 'd rather be at the front of the run rather than be stuck with Matt Hasselsuck as my starter. Especially when viable starting WR will be there when it comes back around and you are already shallow at RB.
pennken 0 Posted August 5, 2003 I'm sure if you fax me something, I could tie my response to the back of a turtle and have it drop shipped to OB1. Of course, he would wait until Scooby got the list from Ditkanate. Meanwhile grandpahoo will be waiting to make a pick in a league that he doesn't even belong to because we're all a bunch of focktools.

Call me...Tim? 0 Posted August 5, 2003 Bill Swerski: BTW, Tusekan is a ###### for taking McAllister over Holmes. At least he's not as bad as the guys who took barber, lewis, and green in front of Marvin, TO, and Moss (all of whom I have ranked within a few points of each other...actually, I have Marvin and Moss tied...however, reports out of camp would seem to improve marvin's value). Either way, in a start 3wr/1rb league, I can't see taking ahman green over any of those 3 wr!@!!!
Bitter Naval Frizz 0 Posted August 6, 2003 I think you're screwed. Is Larry Ned still available in that league?

Call me...Tim? 0 Posted August 6, 2003 Crap, I choked. I was all set to take my 4th WR C. Conway, when I talked myself into an RB...Alstott seemed to be the one with the least downside of the remianing scrubs (A. Thomas, S. Mack, A. Zeroue [damn ankle]..and this is a league that favors TDs over yardage). However, now hours later in the cold light of reality, I wish I had taken Conway or Mason or Bruce. I HATE it when I fock up a pick. frown
Call me...Tim? 0 Posted August 7, 2003 I'm still reeling over letting Conway go. However, I'm set to add Thrash in 5. That means in a 16 team, start 3 or 4 WR league, I'll have Moss, Moulds, J. Smith, J. Thrash as my first 4 WR. With that in the bag, I'm probably going for another RB next...Buckhalter, maybe O. Smith.

I had Thrash on my IAIABOO team last year and was pleased with his performance as a 3 WR. You'll be fine with him as a 4.
