*files paperwork to place Miles Austin on Larry Holmes status*

Recommended Posts

after his breakout season in 2009, and a thousand yard season in 2010, dude has been mia. he did have a decent season in 2011 having 900 yards and 7 tds. but this dude has continuously regressed since his breakout year. he is always hamstrung and doesn't see the field much. plus he's a progress stopper, preventing beasely and harris from getting more opportunities.

another player that gets paid and doesn't give a F anymore

I think his inability to stay healthy & his lingering hamstring injuries are a hindrance to his production more than him not caring once he got paid.

In total agreeance that his previous success is standing in the way of Williams/Beasley & Harris' s playing time.

He had a play that's a classic example of what seperates a good wide receiver from a bad one.

He should have salvaged his fantasy week with a TD when he was wide open, but instead of going up and getting the ball like Calvin, or Julio, or Dez, or Brandon Marshall he waits for the ball to come to him, and gives Deangelo Hall just enough time to recover and knock it away when he should have never even gotten close to the ball.

Miles Austin is sooooo done. You would have to be out of your mind to ever start this guy again.

Disagree. Hamstring injuries can be like this, and it has a lot to do with the relative strength/elasticity of the muscle as compared to the rest of the leg (quad, glutes, etc). It's one of the few injuries that really can be resistant to rehab and prevention.

Agree with the above poster about Miles not going up for that last ball; that play reflects the real problem with hamstring injuries, in that it changes the players psychology and won't allow you to go balls out for fear of feeling that pop again. You constantly are thinking about it, and it changes your intensity and mindset. Devastating to a WR or any athlete that depends on sprinting, quick acceleration and cutting.

I personally feel bad for the guy and don't think he is milking it.

...yet every year there is still a contingent of Miles apologists who insist that he's back and he's a WR2 and blah blah blah.... Some people live in the past and ignore obvious trends.
