wiffleball 4,640 Posted February 19, 2018 Well, Google is not working for me, so I thought I'd try out the Brain Trust. Was dreaming what I presume to be a poem earlier this morning. One-eyed not heard of. At least not consciously. Like all dreams, you swear you're going to remember it, and then it soon Fades Into The Ether of wakefulness. The only phrase I remember, because it was quite compelling, was Steadfast Reich. Can anybody find this contained anywhere therein? The whole tongue seemed a bit wh Auden esque. Thanks in advance. fandandy 3,311 Posted February 19, 2018 Reich McGhee had a bulbous face A chubby wife and with not much grace But you'd never say this to his face He had nothing going, the man was crass With pimples all upon his ass But I'll be damned, the man was fast It happened once upon a time A track meet vs ole Lichtenstein the whole town knew them boys were flyin I popped my knee and couldn't run the crowd was hush under the sun as Reich Mcghee took the starting gun And off he went, just like a deer I raised my fist, the crowd did cheer And down my cheek I felt a tear We never expected he'd even place But telling from the grin upon his face He didn't lose, instead fast Reich McGhee had won the race!!! wiffleball 4,640 Posted February 19, 2018 There is no way I made this up. It turns out, the "Steadfast Reich" is also a term for the Holy Roman Empire. It was part of a larger poem / stanza. I wish I could recall it. Driving me nuts.
