hoydogg 3 Posted September 29, 2014 I'm currently winning in one league by a very marginal amount. He's done, but I have Vereen. I could bench him in case he gets negative points. Is this ethical or do I just roll the dice?
weepaws 2,460 Posted September 29, 2014 I would rather lose the right way of that happens , then win the wrong way .
The Muffin Man 6 Posted September 29, 2014 ^^^ I'm sure you can always feel good about yourself when you go 7-6 and miss the playoffs. OP: Double-check all stats, and bench him.
bfros 53 Posted September 29, 2014 You play to win. I applaud you for even realizing you could get negative points and doing something to avoid it.
HOKIEZ 34 Posted September 29, 2014 What if vereen gets 15 points? Play him, you need all the points you can get. The odds of him fumbling and not getting over 20 total yards is very slim. Esp if you are ppr.

Is this ethical or do I just roll the dice? Depends on how confident you are that scoring is 100% accurate and no stat changes come. I play him
tanatastic 2,061 Posted September 29, 2014 Its not in the least bit unethical. Its the equivilent of a coach pulling his starter to rest him in a blowout. Just dont end up with a stat correction that costs you. But absolutely bench him if you are in the clear. Why the hell not? Its not that unlikely for a guy to get some negative plays, fumble and then be taken out or hurt. Ask Travis henry owners from that game years ago. 2 carries, 2 fumbles. What if this happens? What if that happens? Theres so many negatives for playing him but zero positives since the win is in the bag. If its marginal like half a point id prob not do it, your begging for the fantasy gods to smite you with a freak correction, just play him.
HOKIEZ 34 Posted September 29, 2014 I would disagree that there are 0 positives to playing him, at least in our league format. We need all the points you can muster. There have been plenty of times where the last playoff spot tied record wise and total pts is the deciding factor. So i guess it depends on league structure. knight11e 10 Posted September 29, 2014 i've gotten negative 8 points from a quarterback before, so anything is possible. benching him is legit if you are sure a stat correction won't sink you.
SNZ11 5 Posted September 29, 2014 What if a scoring correction puts you behind in points? Not sure where you play, but I have seen that before......I would be pissed if I benched him and lost.
Cuse9 128 Posted September 29, 2014 Usually the total points has meaning. Those benched points may mean something by season's end. The chances he gets negative points has to small.
