Keeper deadline tomorrow! Advice please!

Recommended Posts

I have to turn in my keepers tomorrow for this season! We have a restricted keeper league so you give up a draft pick relative to where the player was drafted last year. Here are the 4 I've narrowed it down to. I'm in a 12 player competitive league. Everyone is good, so I can't afford to make a dumb decision here!

1) Matt Hasselback for pick #5.2. Not getting much value here, but lock up a top 5 QB. Other QBs who are going to be kept and not available to draft are Palmer, Delhomme, Eli, Bledsoe, & Brees which thins the field considerably.

2) Plaxico Burress for pick #8.11. Pretty solid value, but I'm just not too high on him this year. Giants have a brutal schedule. But still might be worth it at that pick.

3) Carolina DST for pick #10.11. Great value here. The top DST units usually start flying off the board in round 6-7 in this league b/c defenses can score BIG in this league. I have Carolina down as the #1 DST this year. To give you guys an idea, Chicago DST finished as the #5 OVERALL scorer in this league last year. Carolina was 11th and should be better this year!

4) Willie Parker for pick #11.2. This is a no brainer keeper IMO. Willie is no worse than a 3rd round pick.

I can only keep TWO of these players. I've already made up my mind on Parker, but am struggling with the other 3. They key to it is value. Hasselback has the least value of all, BUT QBs fly off the board early in the draft also. So if I let him go I'm going to get stuck with a 3rd tier QB most likely. Which might be OK if I draft smart.

And I'm drafting #2 this year. So I'm guranteed LT2 or SA with my first pick. (LJ is kept).

Help me and I'll help you!

I would go Parker for sure and probably Hasselbeck. Although that is solid value for Buress. And I am not as low on him as you are, he is going to have a more experienced Eli Manning this year. I bet he puts up better numbers than last year. Besides Shockey (and Tiki) who ele are they gonna throw to?

Little Help?

i agree with FWP and Hasselbeck.

how are LT and SA available in your draft if you get to keep players?

Like I said it's a restricted keeper league. You cannot keep 1st or 2nd round picks. LJ was drafted in the 6th round last year so that's how he's kept.

I'd definitely go FWP. No Bettis means more carries...plus he's getting goal-line carries now in camp.

2nd I would probably have to go Hassel...top 5 QB, they added a weapon with Burleson, but lost Hutch. I duno...I'm trying to avoid him this year, but he is poised for another solid fantasy season.

Both Hassel and Burr have 5th round ADP averages, so if you can keep Burr for an 8th round pick and still get Hassel with your 5th round pick in the regular draft, then your one player ahead. I say FWP and Burr.

Definately FWP.

After that, it's a toss up between Plax and Hasselback.
