My parade of sucky WR's

Recommended Posts

I had a great draft with the exception of my WR's, who I picked after there had been a rush on all of the top-notch receivers available. Here's who I'm left with:

Derrick Mason, BAL (@TB)

Joe Horn, NO (@CLE)

Reggie Brown, PHI (@HOU)

Keenan McCardell, SDC (@OAK)

Eric Moulds, HOU (vs PHI)

Brandon Stokley, IND (@NYG)

Who's the best three to start out of this bunch of mediocrity? Brown and McCardell have decent matchups, but Mason and Horn are probably the most talented out of the bunch, along with perhaps Moulds, but unfortunately, he's a Texan now.

Any advice would be appreciated. As always, leave me a link and I'll answer yours!

The first couple weeks are always the toughest with these sort of decisions.

I think I would start Mason (he and McNair always had good chemistry), Horn (He was productive with a lesser QB), and really, flip a coin on one of those last four, but I favor Brown and Moulds out of the bunch right now. I want to see Rivers in a game or two before I decide how SDC will be, and the others are likely to see more looks than Stokley.

Thanks for mine...

Derrick Mason, BAL (@TB)

Joe Horn, NO (@CLE)

Eric Moulds, HOU (vs PHI)

Brandon Stokley, IND (@NYG)

I would wait to see how Brown and McCardell fare in their first games before settling on any of them. Mason and Horn and then Moulds or Stokley inthat order...good luck

Well your RBs probably kill so your WR are servicable...

Mason and Horn are locks. I'd go McCardell based on the OAK matchup and the Raiders tendency to suck.

this is easy

Horn

Mason

Brown

horn and brown have good matchups and mason is the best talent of the others. stokley wont get that many looks. i want to see rivers before i play mccardell and i would like to see how carr plays before i play moulds as well. horn, mason, and brown all have good QBs throwing them the ball and should score the most points this week.

i agree with the mason & horn advise. then i would go w. brown. he & mcnabb have had a lot of time together.

So Horn and Mason are probably my 1 and 2 here, but everyone's divided between Brown, Moulds, and McCardell. Anyone else have a thought about those three?

Have to wait and see how Carr's line holds up before starting Moulds and whether he or Johnson get more looks. So in my mind it's a toss up between Brown (who could be great this yea--but has questions since Donte Stallworth came aboard and McCardell who can be quiet for a while and we don't know about Rivers yet) Pick between these based on the match up--whichever is better--don't know.

I picked Moulds becuase:

1. He knows how to get open fast. He is used to being on a team with a horrible O-line (Bills).

2. Andre Johnson is really overrated.

3. McCardell is playing for a QB who has about 50 NFL snaps under his belt. Not good.

4. Brown is downgraded because of Stallworth.

My thoughts exactly. It actually looks a lot like the group of WRs I have. I hope they aren't as bad as you make them seem.

Horn & Mason are the #1 & #2.

For the #3 I would go with R. Brown. Although they just brought in Stallworth, he is still very new to the system so he may be limited .. somewhat. With that said, McNabb is the best QB out of the group so chances are that even if Stallworth has a good game Brown can also. Especially against that Houston Defense. If McNabb has a 300 yard game & 100 of it is to Stallworth then there is still 200 left for Brown.

McCardell, 1.) is aging, and 2.) is playing with a young & relatively inexperienced QB. The chances for the long ball are lower with Rivers as he may want to play it safe with dump offs to LT2 & Gates.

Moulds, while he improves Houstons passing (perhaps) Houston is still Houston until they prove otherwise. Besides, Andre Johnson is the #1 & unlike Mcnabb & Philly I do not think Houston & Carr are capable of putting up that 300 yard game & getting 2 or 3 receivers good numbers.

I hope this helps.

I would start Brown, Mason, and Horn.

Brown:Still WR1 in Philly and playing HOU

Mason: WR1 in BAL back with McNair

Horn: WR1 in NO, with no other WR options

Moulds: WR2 on HOU, not a good matchup

McCardell: WR1 with unproven QB, but Good matchup

Stokley: WR3 on good team, but may not play much this week.

That is my breakdown.

Thanks for mine.

Sound advice. I think for the first game of the season, you have to discount your matchup instincts and pick talent unless you are a DST genius. Plus I like the prospects of mason and horn with mcnair and brees. I think Moulds is more talented and likely to get more looks than stokley...

McCardell and Brown may yet prove to be FF value, but I would see how they look in the first game or two before slipping them in the lineup...

let me know your thoughts:
