Drop Daniels or LJ Smith for Carlson? Will reply

Recommended Posts

Standard scoring no ppr. mandatory te league, and my tes are weak.

Would you drop LJ Smith or Owen Daniels to pick up Carlson (Seattle), if yes, which would you drop?

Is Carlson usable for the entire season or will he be non existent when Engram and Branch come back?

Thanks, leave a link.

Wow, tough call. I don't think Seattle has ever had a TE as good as Carlson (Stevens included). I watched most of the game last week and he caught everything thrown his way. He's a big guy and was still able to get separation.

Smith was targetted on a few big throws against the Cowboys, and Philly will pass allot.

I don't really like Owens. I think last year's numbers were inflated because AJ was out, kind of what's happened to Carlson so far this year. The difference is that Branch and Engram aren't exactly AJ, so I don't know how much Carlson's value will really decrease once they get back. My guess is that the passing game just does allot better overall and Carlson still gets his chances.

At this point I'd drop Owens for Carlson, but I don't think its a slam dunk.

Thanks for your reply.

I have to agree in dropping Daniels for Carlson.

Carlson probably has the best match up this week and will be needed again.

Think I got everybody back. Anybody else want to chime in? I'm having a hard time cutting Daniels loose (he was good for me last year so maybe I'm biased) just worried Carlson will be a nobody in week 5 when Engram and Branch come back. I know if I dropped Daniels he will get picked up by Sunday. Iguess I gotta go with the better qb which IMO is Hasselback over Schaub and McNabb over Schaub as well.

I'd pick up Carlson and drop L.J. Smith, and Keep Owen Daniels. I like Daniels and don't like L.J. Smith - never have liked him so I'm kind of biased and would just have the players I like on my team. Not saying L.J. Smith won't produce though, I just don't know about him.

drop LJ to pick up Carlson. Owen Daniels will be more consistent, if memory serves me right he had ~60 catches last year. Also, Daniels has already "used" up his bye week.

I would drop LJ, that guy shows up like once a year and then disappears.

The Seahawks has no WRs to throw to, so pick up Carlson asap!!

thanks for replying to mine.

I think picking a TE really depends on the match up week to week. You can pickup guys off the waiver in your league that are just as productive. I also don't think TE is that important of spot to spend your time stressing about...unless you have one of the top 3 guys, TE's are only gonna give you max 12-15 points a week. And 12-15 points is a great day for TE. I think having a good defense is more important than a TE. So you should really focus on QB, RBs, and WRs.

That said Carlson is a great player on a shitty team(at least so far this year) although he is probably the only target for Hasselback. Daniels and Smith are on better teams but probably won't see the kinda of action of a Carlson because their teams heavy better options to pass to. That said I like LJ over Daniels and Carlson over both. Keep track of the injury reports though if you do, as more receivers come back to hawks his production will drop and then I like LJ.

Beware of the 1 week wonder TE. I picked up Fasano after his 80 yd 1 TD performance in week 1 only to get 0 catches in week 2. Like an earlier poster said, their are only 2-3 consistent Fantasy TE's, after that it's a crapshoot.
