Bigunreal1 0 Posted September 19, 2008 I had assumed I'd have a solid every week starter at RB in McGahee. I'm leaning towards starting him this week (has a nice matchup), but don't trust how much the new coach will play him. Perry is the surest bet to touch the ball a lot, but he has another nightmare matchup (Giants) and the Bengals offense is not likely to do much against them. Williams is still Carolina's starter, but after last week I have no idea how Fox will split the carries (and Minnesota is very tough to run on). Slayton is probably going to start for Houston, but who knows how the carries will be divided there, and I don't trust their offense yet. It's a really tough call for me, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Leave a link and I'll help you.
Dan 66 Posted September 19, 2008 You're going to dance the rotating backs all year, I'm afraid, my friend. This week, you're really kinda up against it with matchups. Perry has a ton of talent, but yuck to that offense that has yet to get untracked. I think I'd go with Williams. Fox appears appears committed to the run, and Williams will get his. Over a longer haul, Slaton is better, I think, but this week his matchup gives cause for concern. I want to see Houston's offense in action first.
DanXIII 8 Posted September 19, 2008 I will disagree with the other Dan here. I think Perry, despite the tough matchup, will get the most carries of the RBs you listed. To me, that's the most important consideration when I can't figure out which back to start. It's all about opportunities, especially in performance leagues. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=324799

But I see the Giants getting up on the Bengals pretty big, and the Bengals playing catch up. Perry doesn't do much pass-catching; that falls to Kenny Watson. We Tigers 71 Posted September 20, 2008 They're all rough matchups. I would lean towards McGahee despite any talk from Harbaugh at this point; he's the most talented back on there and I think he'll continue to distinguish himself as a 50-60% of the carries guy. froggsnflfan53 0 Posted September 20, 2008 you have to go McGahee here for the simple fact that he is playing the Browns. Perry isnt going to get that many touches considering that they will play from behind all day, and most coaches give up on the run fairly quick when they get down. Minnesota is to tough to run on and you would really be gambling with that play Now then who else is availble on waivers?
justagrl 0 Posted September 20, 2008 With McGahee's match-up... you have to play him!
Dashow28 7 Posted September 20, 2008 McGahee and hope he gets most of the touches. #
FantasyDave 0 Posted September 20, 2008 I agree with everyone else. McGahee is the way to go. Your other RBs have very unfavorable matchups.
mrgymrat 0 Posted September 20, 2008 1. McGahee - he's back 2. Perry - bad matchup vs G Men but should get plenty of touches 3. Slaton - worse matchup than Perry and will share carries w/ Taylor apparently (and I like Slaton, just not this week) 4. Williams - I think Stewart is the CAR RB to have and Steve Smith returns --- My link - one word answer will work http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=325065
Tacks 0 Posted September 20, 2008 Another vote for McGahee. He's your best option out of that bunch based on his matchup. Thanks for mine.
pit fan 0 Posted September 20, 2008 I am the guy you replied to who has the same problem you do. I am just very lucky that my #1 RB is Westbrook. I have narrowed it down to McGahee and J Stewart as my #2 back and will probably take your advice and go with Sproles as my flex. I am leaning towards McGahee at #2 just because of what the other responses to you have said: He has the most talent and the best matchup. I really like Stewart but hate his matchup with Min this week. Roll the dice with Willis and if he gets the carries, I look for a big day from him. Good luck and thanks for mine! Williams is on my squad for about another couple weeks then I think hell be hitting the wavier wire because stewart is a beast. Don't forget Smith is back now and they will pass more.
