Candygram4Mongo 8 Posted September 12, 2010 I picked Welker in the fourth round, after seeing that he looked good in a couple of preseason games. But with the knee and Bengals secondary to overcome this week, I think it might be okay to sit him and see how he does before starting him. Even in PPR, I am unsure about him. I have Gaffney, who is the assumed WR1 in Denver's offense. He faces a weak Jaguars secondary and should have a better chance of finding the end zone than Welker. With Knowshon aching, I figure Orton will be dropping back to pass quite a bit, and has shown he likes throwing to Gaffney. I don't think the Never Bench Your Studs rule applies here. Thoughts? bauman88 0 Posted September 12, 2010 I'd go with Welker until he blows out the knee again. see me http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=369836
Lake209 43 Posted September 12, 2010 I like your thought-process and you have clearly laid out supporting evidence. This seems like fairly standard W1 fare...just as my own W1 dilemmas have been. In response: Start Welker, barring any report that he won't start the game due to injury. If the guy plays...hell, WHENever the guy has played...he's been a beast. If I were you, I'd think less about the opposing defense than who the QB is that is thowing the ball to these respective receivers. I like Gaffney this season...but I think of him as an unproven commodity at this point. Wouldn't throw him in there in W1, if you can start Welker. Seriously, this wouldn't even be a question if Welker was 100% healthy. Still, I'd take him over Gaffney, even if he is only 80%.
ping 0 Posted September 12, 2010 Thanks for mine! I have to say that I agree with the others. Start Welker and get everything you can out of him UNTIL the knee goes. He's the key to NE's offense. If he's playing...I would be starting him! Ping
Summerwind 0 Posted September 12, 2010 Thanks for you reply as you have the same choice that I do. I would go with Welker - perfect antithesis of Moss. He lays it all on the line and until they cart his broken body off the field, you know he will get you points. Gaffney may have a great year, but I would rather have Brady tossing it than Orton in week 1.
Buck Naked 0 Posted September 12, 2010 Welker for all the reasons stated. Check my post, thanks. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=369803
montana 89 Posted September 12, 2010 Welker. just realize that by me saying this, gaffney will blow it up. I love me some Gaffney this year & have him on my team(s), but I'd start Welker over him right now. In a few weeks......? We'll see. Good Luck!
