TE & Trade Question

Recommended Posts

This seems easy, but isn't.

Cooley (McNabb's new security blanket) or Gresham (just gotta good feelin)

Also,

Big Debate over the following trade...Team A gives Fitzgerald, Best, Williams (TB) for Jones-Drew, Welker, Massaquoi - I don't see the issue here, does anyone?

I wouldn't gamble early, let the rookie prove himself - Cooley.

AS for the trade, lets look at Average Draft Position

Fitzgerald - 19

Best - 39

Williams (TB) - 86

Total - 144

Jones-Drew - 4

Welker - 28

Massaquoi - 123

Total - 155

I would call this damn close....

Cooley.

Proven track record of making plays and finding the endzone with some regularity > I got a feelin'

Trades like that make my head spin. Seems kinda even.

thanks for mine

Stash Gresham (for now) and start Cooley.

The trade is very close. The owner willing to give MJD and Welker appears to be trading away the (potential) risk of injury for (potentially) less points.

Barring ADP for a moment (although Summerwind was correct to show it) Welker and Fitz are VERY close in value...esp if yours is a PPR league. This 9 point value ADP between the two is purely due to Welker's injury + Fitz's loss of Warner.

IF (if) you consider these WR's "even" - then this becomes a case of MJD for Best, which (ALONE), I don't consider even one bit. That is, unless MJD is actually hurting right now... Of course, no one seems to know that. Personally, I assume he is healthy because the guy says he is healthy.

Bringing Williams and Massaquoi back into the fray may "even" this transaction. No one would dispute Williams "potential" to be a beast, given his preseason, thus the wide spread in these two ADP numbers. Massaquoi "probably" has less potential, because of who he plays for, QB' etc. "Evenness" or "fairness" being decided by a couple of green WR's is dubious, at best...

I'd hate to be the Commish here.

I assume that this is a TE Week 1 start/bench question and not a trade question. I would go with Cooley (full disclosure, I'm a Skins homer, though I do try to be objective). If Cooley is all healthy now, he will do just as well or better with McNabb. I think Redskins do OK against Cowboys tomorrow night, Skins may surprise. Now if Cooley is not 100%... that is another question. That was a pretty severe injury last year, we will see. With that said, on checking expert rankings from 3 sites, they are all over the place. One has them a toss up, one shows a clear Cooley preference, one shows a clear Gresham preference. Part of this might be due to other question marks with both of the supporting offenses here... new, veteran quarterbacks and all that. Plus there are question marks with these players. Cooley coming off injury + who knows what kind of Shananagins may be in store with Fred Davis on the same roster; Greshem being the rookie. For week 1 anyway, this is going to be a case of making a choice and crossing your fingers as opposed to coming to terms with a clear choice based on your research. Good luck...

The trade passes the smell test, though I know that I would only do it if MJD was coming to me. Someone here looks desperate for a "top" WR. But MJD is a top 4 pick and Fitz is more middle of round 2 (and overrated there in my opinion). Best is a 4th rounder with Welker 1.5 rounds behind him. The other guys are throw ons that don't matter much. Sure Williams > Massaquoi, but these are throw aways. I'd not want to take the hit on the other two in order to upgrade from Massaquoi to Williams. Which Williams by the way? There is Mike (WR) and Caddy (RB), though it makes no difference to anything I just stated. Anyway, this is 2010, not 2009. Fitz <> MJD, not by a long shot.

Cooley for sure. Trade looks fair.

I like Cooley, we know McNabb digs his TEs. Id like to wait to see how Gresham is truely used during the regular season int he nati, especially w/two ball hogs as wrs. But I agree I do sense something big in Gresham, but youll have plenty of time to make good on him!!

Thats a decent trade if your Team A, but not too big of an issue no!!!
