Leagues with Super Flex. Need Advice

I've been in a 10 team superflex for about 12 years now, yes, the OP(open position) should almost always be a QB based on 6 pt. TDS. There will be some exceptions with bye weeks and sleepers that emerge later in the year. QB's have gone as high as #1 but usually somebody will take the first QB at the turn in round 1. Before everyone started taking WR's in the 1st round you'd see 3 QB's go in round 1. To be honest, you can pretty much do any of the prevailing draft strats and have a great looking team. 10 teams and QBs drafted early means great players dropping rounds all over the place. You'll be able to reach for a guy you believe in while the safer choice drops a round later.

    Undervalued WR's

Jermaine Kearse has been available in round 20 of 3 FFPC sattelite leagues I've drafted in.

    Hogan getting NO love.

Hogan played for two other AFC East teams, Belichick does this all the time. Sometimes it's the simplest answer.
  4. I'd go for it, I'm assuming all teams have their 14 keepers and you're doing a rookie/FA draft?

    Lamar Miller Usage Quick Hits

Came across this blog post from this morning. Dave Hyde's a local Miami reporter and Dolphins beat writer for the Sun Sentinel. He sites some interesting usage stats for Lamar Miller, let me know what you guys think. KILLED THE LINK AND COPIED AND PASTED * When the Dolphins had a three-receiver formation, Miller averaged a staggering 6.1 yards a carry, via Football Outsiders. The three-receivers formation demands a nickle defense package, which means one less linebacker and gives space to run. Getting Miller in space is the goal considering his speed. Expect to see that formation more this year. * This is what is meant by a player being used properly: Miller ran 81 percent of his snaps out of the shot gun last year rather than 41 percent in 2013. He's clearly comfortable running out of the shotgun and Bill Lazor saw that in his first season. Again, expect a heavy dose of Miller running from the shotgun. * Miller (and the offensive line) isn't as good as running short-yardage as they've been credited this off-season. Miller ran 17 times on third or fourth down and "short" according to proreference.com, which it defines as three yards or less for a first down. He got 12 first downs out of them. That's pretty good. Cut it to third-or-fourth and short and two yards, and Miller was 11-for-14. Very good, right? The problem is, that stat doesn't factor in the number of times Lazor wasn't comfortable with running Miller in short-yardage situation. You can see that level by seeing Tannehill threw 38 times - more than double Miller ran - on third-or-fourth and short, according to proreference.com. Twenty-four of those went for first downs. Tannehill ran another three times for a first down in those situations. FootballOutsiders stats show teams are statistically more effective running the football than passing it on short-yardage situations. Yet the Dolphins went against that for a reason - namely, they don't have an offense built for short-yardage running. This a concern for the Dolphins again as they don't have an offensive line or a runner suited to that.

@chrisperk: T'hill is 11-for-14 for 117 yds, 1 TD. Passer rating 125.3. Yet, I think Lamar Miller (6-22 rush, 5-31 rec) is MVP.

So far 1 play for Williams and Miller and Landry have been the features for the offense. Miller in on all plays in RedZone and got a carry and a pass within the 10 Yard line.

    Want to leave CBS, but...

Earlybird pricing is gone for MFL, so it's 99.99 I believe. If you transfer this year's league from CBS, I think you get a discount for next year's fees. You can create a league now for free, but you have to pay before week 1 for the stat tracking to go live. If you go there I suggest you keep it simple at first because you are bound to get overwhelmed with all of the options that can be turned on and off. You'll see when you get there. I just brought my league back to ESPN from there because the majority of my league mates have other leagues on ESPN and it made it easier for everyone to keep track of them. Also, they're not very open to change and found the site a little behind the times aesthetically. Unfortunately for most of them it was a big enough deal to complain endlessly about it. If you're an organized and diligent Commish you'll love it, but if you want to set it and forget it, you might as well not waist your time. I don't want to scare you away, but I think you should have the full picture before making the leap.

Thoughts on WR choice in 1st round?

Have you considered the possibility that Julio will be there for you in the 2nd after you take a RB or top QB in the 1st? How does the 1st round usually play out?

    Want to leave CBS, but...

I was looking through the settings on my league and couldn't find a way to do it either. The most detailed control over weekly matchups I could find was manually editing the schedule that is generated after you select the number of teams and schedule length/playoff parameters.

    Lamar Miller Usage Quick Hits

I've been watching him in person or on the tube for the past 6+ years and you'd think I'd be all about him but I feel about the same as you guys do. He doesn't inspire passion. Last year they brought in Moreno and he took the starting job from him not so much because of a huge skill gap but Moreno gave the offense a toughness and Identity that Miller couldn't. I don't see him ever really turning into that guy, but I do know he's fast, really fast and he can catch. If he's anything close to the bell-cow back they want him to be, you'll be happy to own him. I don't know the circumstances of the draft mentioned above, but who are you taking before him: Justin Forsett? Alfred Morris? Mark Ingram? Frank Gore? Latavius Murry? He's played in all 16 games the past 2 seasons and was only out 3 games his rookie year that he started with a shoulder injury. His rushes and receptions have gone up every year. He averages close to 5 yards per carry and 7 yards per reception and that's with Sherman's terrible offense for his first two years and a suspect O-line that while better last year it still suffered from losing its premiere blocker after week 9. He's not sexy because he didn't blow up his rookie year, but aren't we trying to find top 10 RB's outside of the 1st round?

Branden AL Branden Albert going through first full practice since last years injury, all drills and team sessions.

    Fantasy Etiquette Question

I think this goes under the "Do onto others...". Everyone is different and while I'll never ask any of my league mates opinions on my roster or potential moves, other people need reassurance. It's a personality thing. For me, I rather they think I'm a D**K for not commenting or saying no and hopefully they'll never ask again. But, if you are the type of person that would do the same, by all means help away. The fact that you're asking the question tells me that you wouldn't ask for yourself, but you don't want to come off as a D**K. Would you let your friend ride around on a bike with training wheels?

    Preseason Week 2 Discussion

Looks like the Hip not the ACL. Bet on J. Ajayi having a redshirt year. He needs to do a ton in really short time to supplant D. Williams. All reports say he's dancing in the backfield.

    draft results...long post

I like it, good mix of Elites and guys with upside. Ivory should be solid if L Murray doesn't perform to expectations and you have one of next year's keepers in the 11th. Is this the must start 1 RB Flex heavy league?

    Brandin Cooks

My two remaining drafts are offline home leagues, so I'm optimistic. I Love John Brown think he's the real deal. I like Royal as well, but I think you gotta pick which half of the season Cutler's going to lock in on him. You may have to hold him for a while before he helps you win some match ups, or Cutler will come out the gates targeting him then get distracted and forget about him.

    Brandin Cooks

Eye opening, but I'll be able to get him a few rounds after that or I won't be drafting him.
  18. 12 teams 3 year starting lineup keeper 22 player Rosters. We've cycled once through the first three years and we're back to a fresh redraft. The old format was: QB RB RB WR WR WR TE FLEX K DL LB DB I'm considering lowering roster size to 20 and changing the lineup format to the following: QB RB RB/WR WR WR TE FLEX(RB/WR/TE) DL LB DB The goal here is to give more flexibility to draft strategy and game day lineups while maintaining a richer bench and waiver situation. Thanks in advance for your input.

Have you played in a league that you only have to start 1 RB?

In this format is there PPR TE bonus(1.5)? I didn't mention this before, but points system is: decimal increments yardage(QB .04, RB/WR .1), 1pt. PPR, 1pt. every 5 carries, all TDs 6 points, 1pt. every 25 KR/PR yds.

    Jarvis Landry. Ppr steal?

It is from what I've been hearing, he's just not taking all the reps through camp because they know what they have with him. Damien Williams does some KR but I don't think Landry has any competition for the PR duties unless they decide to give some to Matthews who's capable as well. LaMichael James has been getting looks but he shines without the pads on and disappears when they're on. I'd watch the preseason closely, I'm not sure the reasoning behind holding back Rishard Mathews but he's come on with a vengeance after the team didn't trade him in the off-season and challenged him to prove that they've been wrong in not giving him opportunities. He was drafted the same year as Thill and it makes sense that they'd be on the same page. By the time Devante Parker is 100%(just came off PUP wed.) I see Greg Jennings being the odd man out.

i've got the first pick and im taking Andrew Luck

Luck or Rodgers getting you 24+ points per week is not the same as a another guy who averages 20/wk because he blew up a few weeks but really gave you a bunch of 15 - 18 point weeks. That's the problem with averaging out points production, it doesn't paint the whole picture. Would you have said you'd take Brown over Luck or Rodgers any other year than 2015, seems trendy to me, but it probably has to do with league scoring differences. If you're accustomed to 6Pt Passing TD's, this is perfectly normal. Including the possibility that he starts a QB run, he should be fine. I've been in a 10 team league with 6pt TD's for QB, an OP where you can flex a QB and yardage bonus points across all positions for 10 years now. I've been the 1st to draft a QB and the last sometimes, having success at both strategies. Most important thing to do is take the draft to your opponents before they take it to you.

    Jarvis Landry. Ppr steal?

Here in Miami, Landry is commonly referred to as Tannehill's "Security Blanket". On top of that he doesn't drop anything that hits his hands. Other than Suh being un-blockable, the top performers in camp have been Tannehill, Landry and Rishard Matthews. Stills got back on the field this week and showed flashes right away too. The Dolphins are putting together a sick group of young receivers, that paired with Tannehill's improvement in the offseason and the hopes of his stats to continue their trend upwards points to some nice value on draft day. Hopefully the O-line can find some cohesion with Branden Albert coming back to make it all come together. Yes, I'm a fan, but it's starting to look like this is an offense to use to gain the upper hand on the comp. The backfield and wide-out groups are filled with hungry guys with tons to prove they've got "it".

go running back or Antonio Brown

Johnson's interesting this year, I seem to remember Rivers complementing him during an interview on NFL Network early in camp. He was excited about his versatility to play all 3 WR positions and he appreciated the fact that he was a veteran and knew the right way to prepare for the season. Stevie Johnson a mature vet., go figure!

Helu is safest, but I think Branden Oliver is going to have his own special role in the Chargers offense.
