Has anyone had their Dynasty Drafts yet?

I'm assuming you are already good at QB. but with Harrison and Nabers as well as Rome, you will be set at WR for a long time even if we go on the assumption one of them will be a dud. might as well grab two RB's. though if you are not totally good at QB you can grab one of them too. Never hurts to have a top QB waiting in the wings to take over from the guy you have now. especially if you play with a salary cap.

    Minnesota Vikings

well, you also need to keep in mind the teams he was on. he was on an absolutely terrible jets team when he started. at that time the stats his first 2 years were somewhat promising for a young player, but he never took the next step. then he was on a terrible Carolina team and was a backup in San fran for a year where he likely got some good coaching (perhaps for the first time in his pro career) but very little actual playing time. Without a doubt this team he is on has so much more talent than any of the previous teams he played significant time with it is silly to even compare. San fran may be comparable, but as a backup we never really got to see what he could do there. That said, when there is a young, top rookie waiting in the wings, he wont get much time to prove himself. but it is a chance to see what he can do with actual talent around him. what we dont know is if they plug the rookie in on day one or if Darnold plays a handful of games before they plug the rookie in. I guess we will find out in training camp. If they dont feel like McCarthy is ready on week one, the bye week is the natural place to look at throwing him into the fire. (depending on where in the season the bye falls) of course, Darnold might be able to earn himself playing time if he plays exceptionally well in that offense. personally I think he lasts 6 weeks tops, but it is possible that the year in san fran could have matured him some and the fresh perspective could be good for his on field production. I'm not saying this is the most likely scenario. just saying its possible.

how the hell do you end up with all of the top 5 picks? did you do a full sell off?

    Dynasty?

I'd guess anywhere from pick 8 to pick 15. thats the range but thats just a guess. There is always someone who will think one RB has landed in a perfect spot and will take one of them in round 1 whether he deserves to go or not. but honestly if you are RB needy there are about 4 backs who could develop into starters. if you had 2 picks in the first half round 2 you could likely get 2 of them while I wouldnt trade out of a top 8 pick in this draft as the QB talent and the WR talent is tough to ignore, but if you were RB needy and sitting in the 10 to 12 range I'd talk to someone about trading down a couple of spots and then try to go RB-RB in the first half of round 2. you may have to trade up if you have a pick in the late stages of round 2 (or you could wait and hope to get lucky)

    Dynasty Rookie RBs

I hear you. hes got good skill too but misses some time. for some reason I thought he was a smallish back but hes 5'11 and 210 lbs. so not terribly smallish. but yeah when healthy hes been decent not sure what happened here in Carolina. I guess he went from a good line in Philly to a mediocre one (or worse) in Carolina. That never helps the stats. either way, if the rookie cant beat out him or Chubba, he likely doesnt deserve the starting job anyhow.

further to this, pass pro is mostly learned. so this is coachable. I guess the only question is how quick does he learn it.

    Dynasty Rookie RBs

ok sorry I must have got my players mixed up (we were talking about 2 players) terribly sorry. Lloyd, , Allen and to a lesser degree brooks had ball security issue. I must have accidentally clicked on the wrong profile my bad. but Pass Pro leaves a lot to be desired for him.

What’s your rookie WR board looking like?

I fully agree. I still think it will be better than it was, but at this stage of a retooling there is bound to be some growing pains. its tough to avoid that.

What’s your rookie WR board looking like?

yeah the pats Defense was decent. If I was in charge I wouldnt want to do much in the way of changes there. the numbers for the D dont look as good but thats a function of the offense not being able to stay on the field. eventually short fields and all the time spent on the field wears on them and the D gets tired. An offense that can move the ball and sustain some drives would make all the difference in the world to this team.

What’s your rookie WR board looking like?

yeah, I think hes one of those guys who you put on your watch list. and pick him up if he starts getting the looks. I cant see him being rostered anywhere other than a dynasty format where teams draft and keep rookies. Granted things can and do often change. hes a player of interest for me, but I dont know that I'd take the plunge to draft him unless something changes in KC (ie. starter gets hurt or something)

What’s your rookie WR board looking like?

correction. forgot about the acquisition of Brown. this makes his path to starting a lot more murky. Brown is likely only a 1 year placeholder as hes UFA at the end of this year. granted, if Worthy Blows the doors off, he will play. I dont know if its this year though

What’s your rookie WR board looking like?

historically Players dont come in and make an impact in an Andy Reid offense in year 1. from the sound of it its a complicated scheme and people dont usually pick it up fully until year 2 (sometimes year 3) so I think we need to keep this in mind with KC. its not a lock that hes highly productive year 1. Not by any means. but then again, if it was a lock hed be drafted early. We are not talking about drafting him early so I dont think we are in conflict here. but someone definitely needs to step up as Kelce steps back. Rice is the most likely candidate to have a big year, but he cant be the only one. someone else likely steps up too. and the top candidates are your guy or Skyy Moore. for me, its a matter of who you like better. I could see both being drafted late, but likely only one has the chance to be startable.

What’s your rookie WR board looking like?

yeah, based on what was mentioned, the most concerning is that he lacks consistent separation. oftentimes that can be coached. but I do like that hes good against press coverage. this is a feature that makes him valuable indeed. I dont know if he becomes a #1 WR. if speed is truly a deficiency that may prevent this.......but a #1 WR usually has this ability. what I suspect is that he's a high quality #2 or #3 WR out of the gate who has the chance to grow into the #1 role

What’s your rookie WR board looking like?

yeah, you can only put so much stock in the numbers. some guys actually train hard for the combine while others do not. there are plenty of players who could score a good time on the 40 because they practice on a track. but Running on grass is a different beast. I am not by any means telling you to ignore the stats. They are a tool like any other. I just dont place 100% of my faith in them because sometimes they can mislead.

What’s your rookie WR board looking like?

Kelce wont be a top TE forever. Hes 34 years old. Probably the oldest TE in the history of TE's to put up TE1 numbers with the possible exception of Tony Gonzalez. I suspect we are at the part of his career where he is now in clear decline. dont get me wrong, he will still be good, but not to a point where you could completely disregard the WR position. you need one more good target to keep teams from covering Kelce with a DB. Hes still a mismatch against a LB all day long but I think the matchup against a good DB is more of a fair fight than it used to be and at some point he will start losing those battles. whether he hits that point this year or next.... hard to say. but its coming.

    Dynasty Rookie RBs

Quite possibly. but I suspect hits Conner's job to lose right now. Most RB's (other than the elite ones) take a little time to learn to be a pro and learn the nuances of the pro game before they are ready to step in and be the man. this is no different. All I'm saying is hes likely not a day one starter. I have no doubt hes the next man up. but like I said, the thing that is most likely to keep him off the field is his slippery hands and his pass protection. dude fumbles too much. I dont question his talent. if the pass pro was better and the fumbling issue wasnt there, he would have gone earlier in the draft cuz the skillset is very good otherwise. I do not know much about his coach in AZ. I have not had a reason to look there as I own no shares of players on that team, but a lot of coaches out there wont let a RB take that many Reps until their pass pro is up to snuff either. Thats 2 strikes against him in terms of being a day 1 starter. my belief is that this will be his team next year and they will try to coach him up in these areas before unleashing him. but you are right, if Conner gets hurt, the plan could easily change.

    Dynasty Rookie RBs

Benson probably is not a day 1 starter. scouting report indicates he struggled with ball security early. my best guess is he plays in some 2 back sets, runs a few gadget plays while he learns pass pro and coaches work on his fumbling issue (assuming its a coachable issue with the way he holds the ball) hes perfectly fine playing behind Conner for a year or so while getting these things sorted out. Conner rushed for 1000 yards last season and with a 5 YPC avg there is no rush getting him in there. Conner is good in pass pro and ball security so I dont see him being unseated until at least one of those issues is fully resolved. as for Brooks, he has to beat out Chubba Hubbard who (despite some good press) had an underwhelming 3.8 YPC last year. I could see him time sharing with Hubbard for a couple games before taking the starting job outright but it could happen in pre season if he really comes in and impresses. That said, its too early to reliably predict much but if I had to bet on one of these two RB's I'd bet on Brooks ahead of Benson

    2024 NFL Draft Recap

maybe. but the new guy still wont have anyone to throw to. they have a sizeable buyout on the danny dimes contract. might as well try to make it work one more year, get that stud WR and if he cant get it done next year they will move on and find a new prospect to ruin behind a subpar O line.

    2024 NFL Draft Recap

sad but true. I wish we were wrong, but I dont think we are. but getting Danny Dimes a weapon in the pass game is still a good move. at least it's a step in the right direction.

    J K Dobbins

well, I am waiting to see how it shakes out. I'm not in any early drafts. usually the first draft I participate in is the July mock at FFtoday (assuming I get invited back) and there is still plenty of time to figure this one out. but I'm with you. there is no sense overpaying for a player who cannot stay healthy and unless the team announces he is the starter, (or you have good reason to believe he is going to start) in this case given the amount of time that we need to wait until day 1 of the season, you have to assume some form of time share and possible time loss due to injury. These kind of predictions can be a crapshoot at the best of times so you estimate production for him in a conservative manner until you have good evidence you should do otherwise.

ok a bunch of recent news on Dobbins injury(most in the last few days) J.K. Dobbins talks being healthy, ready to dispel injury-prone label (usatoday.com) Chargers' J.K. Draft Grades For Your Team

I dont know... the only legit NFL QB he had was Matt Ryan. That was his rookie season. year 2 he had Mariota/Riddler (mostly Mariota) and Year 3 Riddler/Heinecke I'd be inclined to give the guy a chance with Cousins who actually can perform at the QB position. I dont know that he puts up 1000 yards with cousins cuz he doesnt like to use his TE's the way Ryan did, but 800 is totally within reach. he still got 600 yards receiving with the crappy QB play they had last year. I think he will be fine.

    2024 NFL Draft Recap

Well, hes an elite WR. probably far better than anyone Danny Dimes had to throw to in the past. maybe its a difference making pick. the line could still be better. I was hoping they'd pick a lineman in the first 3 rounds or so, but apparently thats not a priority. They'll just let Danny Dimes take more hits and get hurt again instead.

    Draft Grades For Your Team

i'm surprised they went that direction. but maybe the incumbent TE will be a good trade target for someone. I think hes shown enough that there should be buyers.
