    Brandon Aiyuk requests trade?

I dont know that Dak is worth 60M but I'd say that Purdy is on par with Dak. (maybe a little better) either way, the players on this team perform (in part) because the team was put together so that all the pieces combined are more than the collective whole. as a player I'd want to remain in an organization that is maximizing my talent. I dont see any of these guys performing better anywhere else. (with one or two possible exceptions) but at the end of the day the team wont be able to keep all the WR and Brock Purdy. there simply isnt enough cap space. I think Deebo is the guy to go but I could be wrong. and if Aiyuk is making too many waves, maybe he will be the guy to move.

    Brandon Aiyuk requests trade?

certainly possible. but if he does want out, the time to make a fuss is now. team can trade him for a player or a pick and its a very deep draft for WR. if moving on from a big contract and going for youth at the position, this is the time to do it.

2024 NFL Draft Profile - RB Jonathon Brooks

yeah, I'm willing to take my chances on the ACL. its not the career ender it once was unless you tear it multiple times. But its usually a full 18 month recovery (possibly 24 if complications arise post surgery). But the Ball security is best left to others unless you are certain pro coaching can fix that issue. In the past I've found that this issue is coachable in some cases..... but truly it gets corrected around 50% of the time (and that may be generous) That likely means your player sees a lot of the bench until that issue gets resolved. (if it gets resolved)

I actually like this kid. and whoever gets him will get a discount due to the ACL injury. granted I wouldnt expect a big rookie year due to the injury. but if I'm drafting him I dont mind having him red shirt the first half of the season and then bring him along slowly when hes not under the microscope. especially if the line isnt all that good to start (as is the case with some teams) then sitting wouldnt be a terrible thing while the team takes steps to sort out the line. I think if he can return to the form I saw on tape, hes got the potential. I like the way he runs through contact or can weave his way through a very small hole opened up by his blockers. Thats pro calibre skill. but like I said, I wouldnt expect anything this year, but next year could be a nice one for him.

    Brandon Aiyuk requests trade?

it might be true. Just because hes denying it doesnt mean it didnt happen. he was sort of at odds with his coach there for a couple of years. its possible that this never truly got resolved. either way, if he suddenly gets traded and it surprises a few, then we will know there may have been something to this rumour.

2024 NFL Draft Profile - RB Braelon Allen

and that happens sometimes especially with the 5 star recruits who get a ton of carries in high school and pre HS. then a pile of carries the whole college career. all that, and maybe an injury and there may not be enough in the tank for the kid to play out the full length of his rookie contract to get to the big money. maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but not THAT much

my mother died of cancer and the high quality pain meds can only do so much. Trust me. in those last couple of weeks she was wanting it to end. Not to be morbid but this is one area where a big pile o cash wont do you much good.

2024 NFL Draft Profile - RB Braelon Allen

I dont like his fumbling. but sometimes that can be fixed with coaching. I'd say 50% of the time it cannot be fixed. but thats likely one of the reasons he wont be a day 1 pick and may not be a day 2 pick either. once you get into day 3 picks the upside is usually worth the risk and you pick him with a thought to developing or fixing the flaws in that diamond in the rough. If a team with a good coach sees why hes fumbling and thinks he can fix it, he may go on day 2. but day 3 is likely where he belongs in this draft.

I dunno. its a long and often painful way to go. while there are worse ways to go, I would not go so far as to say its a nice way to leave this earth.

2024 NFL Draft Profile - RB Blake Corum

yeah so many times hed get 3-4 yards before first contact and because zeke was a beast hed either fall forward for an extra yard or two or hed break the tackle and get another pile o' yards once he got into the secondary. that was one line where they probably just could have run the ball every play and the other team would have been helpless to stop them. and for a year or so while Dak was learning to be a pro, thats basically what they did.

he was also running behind what many considered to be the best O line in pro football. That line was awesome.

I'm sure they discount the tickets by the price of one game so nobody gets cheezed. is it that big a deal? you gotta give allowances for the league to grow the game.

    July Mock (PPR) Strategy analysis

followup: I like to go back and look at the results at the end of the year to see where the champion won the draft and to see what I could have done better. also to look for trends in the stats that may give me an edge for future drafts. if going back to analyze a draft isnt for you, this isnt a post you want to read, so I'll save you the trouble. but for those who do care, this is a good group of drafters who know their stuff (for the most part) and I think there are lessons to be learned here if you care to read. July 2023 PPR Mock - Results - The Mocking Station - FFToday Forums the link takes you to the mock results posted in the mocking station. Fantasy Football: 2023 FFToday: July Mock (myfantasyleague.com) this link takes you to the scoring page. This is a basic high level analysis. I could go deeper into the stats if people request it, but honestly I'm just looking to point out interesting data that may help you in your strategy when you draft yourself. First, congrats to Worm who won the draft. top 6 results as follows: 1. Worm 2507 points 2. Robb 2441 points 3. Ray_T 2281 points 4. White Wonder 2266 points 5. Shovelheadt 2257 points 6 Iceman 2238 points So Worm won in a landslide, how did he win? He had 2 top 10 QBs and neither were drafted early. He had the #5 RB and the #3, 19, and #30 WR an interesting trend is that 5 of the top 6 teams all had top QB's on their roster. Worm had the #3 and #9 QB, Robb had the #2 and #14 QB I had the #1 QB, White Wonder had the #10 and #12 QB and Shovelhead had the #6 QB this makes a pretty good case for making sure you nail the QB pick (wherever in the draft you happen to take it) Best 2 RB was taken By Hawkeye, but White Wonder took the #3, 10, and the #12 ranked RB. (outstanding) Robb took the #4 and the #8 RB at WR Ralphster took the #1 WR and the #21 ranked WR Remote took the #2 and the #20 and worm took the #3 and #17 ranked WR Robb took the #5 ranked (but #4 in the draft as the #4 ranked WR went undrafted) and the #18 ranked WR the only true correlation to results was that all the top teams had a top 12 QB and in some cases two of them. anyhow, thats all I got. food for everyones thoughts. I look forward to some discussion from those who wish to talk strategy as well as what went right and wrong for some teams. one other trend I found was many of the teams at the bottom of the standings suffered with injuries (which is fairly typical actually) cheers guys. Lets try to keep this discussion productive.

Update - Rashee Rice: Dallas Accident

2 differing opinions. I bet Polecatt is right. I bet he doesnt do any time or if he does it will be very minimal. but it will cost him a pile of cash to keep his hands clean.

Update - Rashee Rice: Dallas Accident

if he didnt have high powered lawyers that may have happened. but a lot of times the DA wont press charges against someone who will lawyer up unless you are sure you can make it stick. once the lawyers get involved there is a large cost to the taxpayer and if that large cost doesnt have a good chance of bringing a conviction why spend the money? Thats what big money gets you. perhaps a bit more leniency due to the potential of lawyers getting involved and mucking things up.

Dave Gettleman sooooo effed the G-Men..

I can relate. too many teams bring in a young QB and put them behind a leaky line and then question why the QB didnt develop as he should. lots of times when a GM fails its not one or two bad moves that does it. lots of times its other things people dont notice. and the Line in New york has been bad off and on for a long time. not sure if thats a product of the O line coach or bad drafting but they actually drafted and brought in free agents that were supposed to solve the O line problems only to have the problem come back a year leater. at the end of the day, whether the problem was he hired bad coaches or drafted bad players, it doesnt matter. the bottom line is he couldnt make the team win. Thats the bottom line. but he did do a lot of things wrong. I dont think drafting Sequon was one of them. he was a legit playmaker and he could play. and if as a team you believe in the draft picks you have made up to that point I dont think it was a bad move. it just turned out that many of the players drafted or signed prior to that point didnt pan out. They brought in a free agent Tackle from the pats who was an all star, and then 2 or 3 years later he was a bum and they released him. They drafted another guy I think with the first or second pick of round 2 who had a nice year or two and then regressed. is this a talent problem? or bad coaching? I dont know. but the team did try to address the line on multiple occasions and just couldnt get it right.

sorry, I mixed up my incompetent GMS. same team, and I'm not a G man fan, so its an easy mistake to make.

Dave Gettleman sooooo effed the G-Men..

he hit on the pick. so I dont consider that to be a fail. if Sequon was a dud then yes. but at the time if Danny Dimes had turned into the player he was supposed to be the Sequon pick would have been just fine. I know hindsight is 20-20 but at some point you need to take the leap of faith that the previous players you have drafted will turn out. and many thought at the time that Dimes was gonna be the real deal. so I dont fault him for that. it just turns out Dimes didnt pan out and thus the situation arose that you speak of.

Dave Gettleman sooooo effed the G-Men..

yeah, and giving that massive contract to Danny Dimes after not renewing the 5th year option. that may have been the icing on the cake. if they had taken the 5th year option, they wouldnt have even needed to spend on him at all. then Sequon might have been resigned instead. (which in hindsight was likely the better move)

Trade: Bills moving WR Stefon Diggs to Texans

no need to do that. package with this years 2nd and take a WR in the bottom half of round 1. This is an exceptionally deep draft for WR. I dont think they need to get the pick of the litter.

Trade: Bills moving WR Stefon Diggs to Texans

I wouldnt be surprised if they did. my bet is at the very least, the pick they get for Diggs will be used to select another WR. alternatively, they use their first to pick the Diggs replacement. I could even see them taking that 2nd round pick they got for him and packaging that with another draft pick to move up into the bottom half of round 1 and then using both first rounders on WR with the thought that if one doesnt pan out, they still get a very good replacement for Diggs at a fraction of the cost.

2024 NFL Draft Profile - QB J.J. McCarthy

I actually like a lot of the film I have seen. occasionally his deep ball floats a bit more than you'd like and that shows where a strong armed QB is preferred in some respects. there were a couple of deep balls where the WR had to stop to prevent the ball from being underthrown. but otherwise I liked his accuracy with tight windows, I liked a lot of his pre snap reads. the one interception he shouldnt have thrown but at the same time the WR sort of telegraphed his cut (which led to the DB jumping the route). my old football coach used to call it a banana route because he rounded the turn rather than making a sharper cut that can take the DB by surprise. either way, I am not absolving him of that INT. but the WR needs to take some of the credit for that one. if he runs a better route, the DB likely doesnt jump the route like he did.

2024 NFL Draft Profile - QB J.J. McCarthy

honestly his scouting report doesnt look a whole lot different than Brady's did at this age. people had a lot of the same questions about Brady as they do about him. but hes a bit more athletic and runs more than Brady ever did. Thats not to say hes gonna turn out to be like Brady, but thats the type of QB he needs to be to be successful with the skillset he has. precision passer. Hes not gonna win too many games with his feet like some of the other top prospects. But as a QB he throws the ball well.

Trade: Bills moving WR Stefon Diggs to Texans

I think we all agree they need a WR. all I'm saying is its not doom and goom to the point where the offense is totally hooped. If they get a WR that can step in and be productive from day 1(totally possible in this deep draft) the team may be in better shape than we think. There may still be some overpriced WR out there that they may acquire on the cheap as teams try to cut some salary. I wouldnt be surprised to see some of that come to pass (in addition to what they get at the draft table)

sadly if the QB position doesnt work out that usually means the GM loses their job. that's just the way of things. as such, hes no longer there.
