  1. This is a battle of two songs released in 1979. One was a rock/early new wave hit and the other a disco tune. Driver's Seat peaked at #15 on the US pop charts. Born to be Alive peaked at #16. By 1980, disco was pretty much extinct. But 'Born" had some other elements in it that made it more enjoyable than most of the disco stuff that we had been force fed for the previous four years. I actually liked this song. And Driver's Seat was a favorite of my young self. My older sister had a K-Tel record with it on and I played the crap out of it. Which one do you like better? Sniff n the Tears- Driver's Seat Patrick Hernandez- Born to be Alive
  2. Aldo Nova- Fantasy Red Rider- Lunatic Fringe People have argued about this for decades. It's time we settled it.
  3. If you're like me, you could probably be asked this same question in a month and it wouyld look different, but list your top five bands/artist of all-time And I don't mean the five you think are the best or most talented. I mean YOUR personal favorites. Because my top five and my favorite five would look nothing alike. For instance, the Beatles and Led Zeppelin would easily make my top five bands of all-time. But they won't appear on my favorite five.

    Favorite Night Ranger song

This one is loooooong overdue. So which of these Night Ranger tunes is your favorite?
  5. This isn't really about 'genre', as I have no idea how these tunes would be classified. I just remember them as 'cheesy'. And, since it's Friday, and Fridays are all about a carefree attitude, I thought this would be the perfect day to make this poll. So, which of these ten choices is your favorite? If you don't recognize a song by the title, Youtube it. Unless you're only in your 20's, I'm pretty sure you've heard these all.
  6. These aren't new wave songs. Just a random batch of 80's songs that may not fit into a genre-specific poll. Which of them do you like best?
  7. This is a hodgepodge of rock songs, excluding grunge. Which is your favorite?
  8. Second installment of the new wave polls. Which of these do you like best?
  9. Only got up to "H" in my disco folder. Which is your favorite of the ten disco songs listed? DISCLAIMER: I did not include any Bee Gees songs. They got enough love in our 70's music polls.
  10. Which of these ballads, performed by usually-harder rocking bands, is your favorite?
  11. Not exactly sure how to classify every genre of songs, so excuse me if you feel a song listed isn't technically 'alt-rock'. This is basically a 90's rock poll that excludes hair metal like Poison and Motley Crue and Grunge like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Anyway, which is your favorite of these ten selections? This only goes up to E in the alphabet. There will be more songs from this genre later.

Favorite Top Ten Song of 1994

Wow. Ace of Base with three of the year's top ten songs. Most dominant chart performance since the Bee Gees back in '78. That pretty much says it all about the state of music in 1994. (although, the Seattle grunge scene is coming to save the day)

Favorite Top Ten Song of 1993

Guys who only like rock and roll......good luck!

Favorite Top Ten Song of 1992

Dare I say that this is a bit better than '91? Still not up to par with the 70's and early 80's polls, but at least there are a few decent choices.
  19. This is bad. Really bad.

Favorite Top Ten Song of 1990

And we begin our 90's polls. Hope you weren't expecting a sudden shift to awesome just because a new decade began.
  21. This should be a close poll. With the exception of one or two that snuck in because of weak competition, this is a solid group of songs.
  22. Name an album that you find you can load up and listen to end to end without feeling a strong desire to hit the "next track" button. I'll start things off with... Soundgarden - Superunknown (1994, A&M Records) 1. Let Me Drown (3:51) 2. My Wave (5:12) 3. Fell on Black Days (4:42) 4. Mailman (5:06) 5. Superunknown (5:06) 6. Head Down (6:08) 7. Black Hole Sun (5:18) 8. Spoonman (4:06) 9. Limo Wreck (5:47) 10. The Day I Tried to Live (5:19) 11. Kickstand (1:34) 12. Fresh Tendrils (4:16) 13. 4th of July (5:08) 14. Half (2:14) 15. Like Suicide (7:01) 16. She Likes Surprises (3:18) Soundgarden was the first of the famed Seattle-scene bands, but surprisingly the last of the group to have a major breakthrough album. Superunknown makes a strong case as one of the best rock albums of the 90s. Aside from the five tracks that were released as singles (all of which landed in the Modern Rock Tracks top 25) is the criminally underappreciated "4th of July". Chris Cornell's vocal range was never tested quite as much on this record as some previous work ("Say Hello 2 Heaven" from the Temple of the Dog project and "Jesus Christ Pose" from the band's previous record, Badmotorfinger) but there is little doubt that he boasted the most talented vocal chords of the era (which he nearly destroyed on the subsequent tour from gross overuse).

Favorite Top Ten Song of 1989

Last year of the 80's, which started off with a bang and has been dreadful the last few years. Let's see if '89 can turn things around....
