Vikings4ever 568 Posted March 11, 2006 Browns | Team signs Bentley Sat, 11 Mar 2006 09:55:37 -0800 Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Cleveland Browns have agreed on a contract with free agent C LeCharles Bentley. Terms of the contract are not yet known. Damnit, wanted the Vikes to make a serious push for him.
Rybo5 0 Posted March 11, 2006 Damnit, wanted the Vikes to make a serious push for him. It especially sucks for eagles fans, because one of our local reporters reported that Bentley to the Eagles was a done deal. Here's that genius piece.

Wildman 0 Posted March 11, 2006 That is huge for the Browns Bentley is a great young player that can anchor that line for years. I'm impressed with the choice and the fact Crennell and Savage sold him on Cleveland, though Bentley is an Ohio State alum which could be an influence if he in fact played prep ball in the state of Ohio. Of course, with the state of affairs in New Orleans, Cleveland probably looked great in comparison. Still, I'm sure Bentley knew he commanded a lot of interest from "better teams," but there is some promise with the Browns because of Crennell. This is an exciting signing for Cleveland. Thin Spirit 0 Posted March 11, 2006 So who makes the switch to Guard...Bentley or Faine?
Wildman 0 Posted March 11, 2006 So who makes the switch to Guard...Bentley or Faine? I haven't studied the Brown's line, but I would think Bentley has the center position from day one. He's one of the better centers in the NFL.
Bently 0 Posted March 12, 2006 I haven't studied the Brown's line, but I would think Bentley has the center position from day one. He's one of the better centers in the NFL. Faine was a first-round draft choice, and is still young. His downfall is that he has consistently wound up on the IR and not lived up to full expectations. Bently has gone to the pro-bowl at both G and C, leaving me to believe that as long as Faine is healthy or shows he can transition to the interior of the line, he will remain at C and Bently will become the G. Of course, I think Bently is one of the best centers in the league, but I'm not sure how it will all play out. The Brown's unit looks awfully good now though: T Kevin Shaffer G Joe Andruzzi C Jeff Faine / LeCharles Bently G Cosey Coleman T Ryan Tucker Mix and match Bently and Faine so that you get the most productive line and that looks very good IMO. Wildman 0 Posted March 12, 2006 Thanks for the info on Faine. I would think an experienced C like Bentley to work with Frye might be a part of the appeal, but may be I'm overanalyzing it. You are right about the flexibility it provides and I think every line needs some depth where you can move guys around if needed. I love what the Browns are doing mixing quality vets with talented young guys. Jurevicius is a great upgrade from a leadership-veteran standpoint that will hopefully help out guys like Winslow and Edwards. Droughns Jurevicius and that o-line...looks promising in the next few years.
Vince44 205 Posted March 12, 2006 A very strong move by the Browns, with such a young QB like Frye and getting him a all pro center to work with, is a perfect fit. The one thing I thought this offense would need is a veteran WR, like a Moulds/Bruce, but in all truth the best fit is JJ and that's who they got.

Yep, big guy with sneaky speed and great hands. No problems for a young QB like Frye that needs someone to bail him out and also big enough to block for the running game...love the pick.
