Looking at 2006 Drafts.....as of 3/17

Recommended Posts

Just thought this might be a fun thread to spur on some discussion. I have not included any rookies (Reggie Bush), so the selections are based solely upon what is known at this time.

Here's where I would place value in the first four rounds of a redraft as of today. Assume standard performance league scoring.

Round One:

1. Shaun Alexander

2. Larry Johnson

3. LaDainain Tomlinson

4. Tiki Barber

5. Clinton Portis

6. Rudi Johnson

7. Domanick Davis*

8. Edgerrin James

9. Steve Smith

10. Steven Jackson

11. Lamont Jordan

12. Torry Holt

Round Two:

13. Ronnie Brown

14. Peyton Manning

15. Chad Johnson

16. Cadillac Williams

17. Willis McGahee

18. Terrell Owens

19. Brian Westbrook

20. Deuce McAllister

21. Carson Palmer**

22. Reuben Droughns

23. Marvin Harrison

24. Julius Jones

Round Three:

25. Antonio Gates

26. Jamal Lewis

27. Randy Moss

28. Tatum Bell

29. Larry Fitzgerald

30. Chris Chambers

31. Warrick Dunn

32. Darrell Jackson

33. DeShaun Foster

34. Donovan McNabb

35. Thomas Jones

36. Anquan Boldin

Round Four:

37. Corey Dillon

38. Hines Ward

39. Kevin Jones

40. Tom Brady

41. Tony Gonzalez

42. Reggie Wayne

43. Marc Bulger

44. Santana Moss

45. Daunte Culpepper**

46. Chester Taylor

47. Kurt Warner***

48. Ahman Green

*- Likely to change once Bush is drafted. This is where I would pick Davis if the Texans picked someone other than a RB.

**- Assuming the ability to open the year as the starting QB

***- Assuming you would draft the immediate backup as well due to high injury risk

Wondering why you have Warner's value so high but fitz and boldin so low?

Hmmm.......I didn't realize Fitz and Boldin were low. They're both in my top ten at the WR position...Fitz #7 WR and Boldin #10. I just think they'll cancel each other out somewhat and this will be the result. Two top ten receivers, but not one top five receiver. Just my take, I guess.

They were #2 and #5 last year in my league and Boldin missed 2 games. Would have been #2 and #3. With Warner ranked that high, #7 and #10 seem very low compared to what they did last year.

Thanks for the feedback.......I can see your point. Just going off my projections at this point.

In all my years of playing fantasy football, I've never seen an Arizona RB make a fantasy impact.

Edge going there scares me to death. I'll likely let somebody else tackle that come August.

Why so high on Dom Davis? I understand the addition of the Denver running system, but the dude has proven fragile and we have no idea if he'll fit that system the way someone like Dunn has. Plus they haven't done anything to fix their terrible offensive line yet.

You may be right about the fragile part, but Davis was the #8 RB last year in terms of RB FF points per game and even better the year before. He might not be all-world, but his stat lines have been pretty solid.

Adrian Murrell's 1000 yards and 8 TDs in 98 is nothing to sneeze at.

Of course, you have to go back to Ronald Moore, of the 1993 Phoenix Cardinals to see another RB make a difference (1000 yards and 9 TDs).

Edge is a ? somewhat in my mind also he may suffer a little in yardage stats. He is hard to figure but he may get alot more goalline looks in this O which is an assset compaired to Indy where he was down the list somewhat as a goalline option. Warner is more than capable of utilizing Edge's recieving skills as he domonstrated with Faulk in Ramland. Since Bulger has taken over in Ramland the utilization of Rb's recieving skills has really taken a drop.

1000 yards and 8 TDs is decent, but 1,000 yards in a season really isn't the crowning achievement it used to be when the NFL played a 12 and 14 game schedule and players got fewer carries.

If Murrell is the best example of RB success in the desert, my feelings on the matter remain unchanged.

No faith in Eli Manning? I can see him being a top 5 qb.
