Stars 0 Posted March 22, 2006 i definitely like this trade, being a denver fan. but who do they target at 15? i'd love for them to get maroney..... Denver's primed for a trade up into the top 10. I hope they take Maroney at 15 - but only because I'm a Miami fan and we're not interested in an RB...
Deadpool 0 Posted March 22, 2006 The Jets are looking to the future IMO. Not to mention the fact that Abraham didn't want to be a Jet anymore. Agreed. Its a win situation for the Jets...... Abraham didn't want to be there anymore, so atleast this way instead of him leaving on his own, the Jets are getting something out it, and hopefully are able to draft some quality players from the picks. (or atleast they hope to).
mkuz 0 Posted March 22, 2006 now the jets just need to trade #4 and #29 for the #1 pick and get reggie bush thats what i would do and for the love of god do something to better the team mangina J-E-T-S! you know the rest.
Timinator 0 Posted March 22, 2006 Who gets hurt first? Vick or Abraham? Looks like all three teams scored well here from their perspectives. Even the player and his agent are happy. It's like a fairy tale with Denver left holding the bag o' gold and the hot princess.
Chronic Husker 85 Posted March 22, 2006 Denver did very well. It's surprising that Indy (#30) or Jax'ville (#28) didn't want to beat the deal that Denver got from Atlanta. Good point. But there is a tendency on this board to underestimate Shanahan's genius. Make no mistake. Denver wanted Abraham. I have a serious feeling that Shanny was dealing with ATL and against ATL. He knew they didn't want to give the #15 straight up and he knew they didn't want to get shut out on Abraham. Saw his chance and took advantage. The consensus here is that Denver did just fine in this deal.
Snoop 0 Posted March 22, 2006 The Jets will probobly trade the 4th for a back-up TE and then grab a kicker at 29.

1stand2nd 0 Posted March 23, 2006 The jets were going to pay JA $8.5M this year. Atlanta's going to be paying him an average of $7.5M over 6 years. If the jets were willing to pay that high why didn't they just make the long term deal with JA and make everybody in the jets org. happy? They're not going to get a player as good as JA at #29. themorey 1 Posted March 23, 2006 I think the Jets want Mario Williams at #4 to replace JA. The #29 gives them some flexibility to do that since they can still get a good quality offensive skill position at #29. As a Jets fan I'm sorry to see Abraham because he is a premiere pass rusher. However, most of his sacks come in bunches with long droughts in between. That combined with his injury history makes him a big risk for the Falcons and the $18M he is guaranteed. My guess is that JA and Vick run into each other on the practice field and are both lost for the season.
bigmarc27 24 Posted March 23, 2006 It makes the Falcons defense pretty scary... DE: Kerney DL: Rod Coleman DL: Lavalais/Babineux/Lake DE: Abraham LB: Brooking LB: Ed Hartwell LB: DeMorrio Williams CB: Hall CB: ? at this point S: Milloy S: Scott or the guy they just trade for whom I can't remember. -- With the second rounder, we get a CB or an OL guy. WR position should be very solid this year for the first time in decades. OL is very good at run blocking, but their pass blocking lacks. They're quick and the scheme allows them to create holes, but their smallish and don't hold block or drive people back very often. That's also the reason Duckett sucks and Dunn is good; Duckett needs a bruising OL to be effective. TE solid, QB solid, RB solid. Way too early prediction 10-6. 8-8 was a disappointment last year and this team has improved itself by a pretty good margin. -- Don't be suprised to see either Duckett or Schaub gone by draft day. Rumor is, Schaub for the Vikings first rounder.

pinfish_mauler 0 Posted March 23, 2006 It makes the Falcons defense pretty scary... DE: Kerney DL: Rod Coleman DL: Lavalais/Babineux/Lake DE: Abraham LB: Brooking LB: Ed Hartwell LB: DeMorrio Williams CB: Hall CB: Webster S: Milloy S: Crocker. -- Fixed. Grady Jackson is visiting today and could take over the second DT spot next to Coleman. If Jackson isn't signed, look for the team to go after Adams or Buckner. McKay was on one of the stations yesterday and said we are not done w/ free agency. I do not see him trading Schaub, though. Mora, Blank and McKay are scared to death of a "Doug Johnson scenario" should we trade Schaub and pick up an unproven QB that doesn't know our system. McKay and Mora have done a good job building this team with youth the last two seasons. This season they are concentrating on adding veterans.
ILikeVikes-84 0 Posted March 24, 2006 Denver consistently finds great RB in the middle rounds. This year will be no different. They don't find good RBS in the middle rounds... they draft some nobody, nonamer.... and make him great, hahaha it's all shannahan and his system.

The rest are decent backs, but the NFL is full of decent backs. I think Droughns proved last year that he's a decent player as well. I'm one of those that believes you can fit any back into nearly any system and if the OL is decent, he'll be good. If you're good enough to be on an NFL team, you can probably thrive at that position given the chance.
