Buffalo Bills -- helmet controversy

Recommended Posts

Shouldn't Buffalo have a dollar bill on their helmet, or the beak of some exotic

bird native to the Buffalo area ? I mean, Denver doesn't have a "Denver" on their helmet.

If Buffalo is going to have a Buffalo on their helmet, then maybe Denver should have

Gilligan or John Denver on their helmet.

What is a "Packer" anyway ?

Food packer, fudge packer ?

Throw some fudge on that Frozen Tundra helmet.

I see Lions roaming around Detroit all the time...and Bears in downtown Chicago traffic can be a biotch.

Was Cleveland to cheap to hire a logo designer so they just named themselves a color? I wonder if using "Whites" or "Blacks" crossed their minds?

No, they just introspectively view themselves as a giant turd.

More serious answer than you expected:

Curly Lambeau worked at the Indian Packing Company and started the Packers as a company team since he couldn't get back to Notre Dame to play. They could have easily been called the Indians.

Primarily, IPC packed meat. You know: brats, polish sausages, italian sausages...great tailgate stuff. The guys were butchers. Slaughterhouse workers. The comapny became ACME Packing later, but the team has stayed the Packers since 1919.

Blue and yellow were the team colors into the mid-1950s. The helmet's "G" arrived with Lombardi in 1959.

I guess the Vikes could go with a 4 oz. bottle of soda pop on theirs, a Mini-soda.
