I think those leaders just don't like our leaders. While i don't know all that much about it, Chavez has been making noise since he came into power, trying to gain visibility by being a anti-USA agitator, probably more for domestic consumption than anything else. He also believes we tried to foment a coup to replace him a while back. So its a natural for him to hook up with Fidel, and tweak us at every possible turn.

 

BTW, I would really hope that the endless impasse between the USA and Cuba can be corrected soon. Too bad for us, and them, that there is no back and forth between ourselves and our close Latin neighbor. I'd like to go there sometime.

What a mess. I wish they were just anti-Bush, a position I totally understand. But we've got a bigger mess on our hands than that. Venezuela sits on an oil filed, Bolivia produces cocoa (cocaine) plants, Cuba... well Fidel's been an annyoing enough chorus of one for many years, now he has friends.

 

Would have hoped that Fidel getting older, finally, would push Cuba back into our good graces when he died. Unfortunatly, the trend is going the other way. Fortunatly some of the other more leftist regimes in Latin America are more pragmatic, but the whole region is flirting with socialism/communism.

Castro and Chavez are very classy guys. The claim to hold socialist beliefs. Yet both live a life a luxury while their respective countries live in poverty. Not to mention Castro runs Cuba like Soviet Russia. Anyone who opposes him goes to jail. People who exercize free speech go to jail. Poets and homosexuals go to jail. I could care less what that guy thinks of America.

 

If we tightened up the border we wouldn't have to worry about Bolivias cocaine and if we find alternative fuel sorces we don't have to worry about oil from Venezuela. Besides we can get oil from the devious Saudis and from Norway. Norway has oil up the butt.

Well that was an interesting point if accurate. Economically I guess it's still important to care, but it's good to know who is a blazing hypocrite.
