Super Cubs 154 Posted April 30, 2006 Outside of Bush the top RBs this year seemed to go in the later part of round one and White in the 2nd. How would you rate them compared to Caddi, Ronnie and Benson.
DrJ 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Outside of Bush the top RBs this year seemed to go in the later part of round one and White in the 2nd. How would you rate them compared to Caddi, Ronnie and Benson. 1) Bush is better than anyone in last year's class. 2) Last year's top 3 were better than this year's top 3 - Caddy and Benson were 2 and 3 in most, and they were blue chip, top 5 prospects. Maroney and Williams are solid, but not in that class. 3) There is some bigger talent after the top 3 compared to last year - Addai's stock is FAAAAAAR greater than Arrington's was last year. LenDale White has a lot more value than anyone in the Shelton/Gore/Moats/Fason/etc group from last year. Norwood/M Drew/B Calhoun give this draft some comparable prospects in that range as well. 4) There won't be quite as much depth this season. Last year that tier after the top 4 was REALLY deep, and you were getting guys like Marion Barber/Brandon Jacobs/Cedric Houston throughout the 2nd. This season it will fall off a lot quicker in the early 2nd.

Williams, Maroney, Addai and White are nowhere near the prospects that Brown was.

cws3030 0 Posted April 30, 2006 if they were all in the same draft w/ no nfl exp. my guess would be: 1- bush 2- r.brown 3- caddy 4- benson 5- d.williams 6- maroney 7- addai 8- white 9- jj arrington 10- Shelton/Gore/Moats/Fason 11- Marion Barber/Brandon Jacobs/Cedric Houston 12- Norwood/M Drew/B Calhoun

I mean Maroney went mid first while Williams lasted until the end of the first.
t.j 35 Posted April 30, 2006 Correct, except swap Maroney and Williams. I mean Maroney went mid first while Williams lasted until the end of the first. I think that has more to do with the Patriots style of play than the talent. With Antowain Smith and Corey Dillon they've been running with big backs for awhile. Williams is more of an outside runner and not as good of a fit, but a better talent overall IMO.

Bouncing to the outside seldom works in the NFL and I think he needs more space than Maroney does.

DeAngelo is a lot bigger than Tiki Barber, I think he'll be a solid threat to both get outside and also burst through the line quickly. Might not be a goal-line guy but I think he'll have a great NFL career.
