Kilroy 0 Posted May 28, 2006 RIP That sucks. I didn't even know he passed. He was one of my favorite players to use in Super Tecmo Bowl. He wasn't fast, but it took all 11 defenders to tackle him almost every time you ran him. It was awesome. Loved that game. R.I.P. Craig "Ironhead" Heyward. Second Place Don't Pay 0 Posted May 31, 2006 On the Barber shop, Tiki and Ronde were giving him his due respect yesterday, talking about his unreal high-school career in NJ and his time at Pitt. Notes (taken from Pitt's website and The Record: With agility and speed that defied his burly build, Heyward ran for a Passaic High School-record 5,142 yards and 75 touchdowns from 1980-83. Craig "Ironhead" Heyward was one of the nation's most productive, and charismatic, players in 1987. An unconventionally sized tailback at 6-feet, 260 pounds, the bruising Heyward rushed for 1,791 yards that year to earn consensus All-America honors and finish fifth in the Heisman Trophy balloting. His season rushing total remains the second-highest ever for a Pitt runner, trailing only Tony Dorsett's 2,150 yards in 1976. (Totals include bowl statistics.) Heyward joined Dorsett as the only Pitt backs to rush for 100 yards or more in 12 season games. Heyward's 3,086 career rushing yards rank third all-time at Pitt. In 1988 he was a first-round selection of the New Orleans Saints and later played for Chicago, Atlanta, St. Louis and Indianapolis during a decade-long NFL career.
