Steel City Blues 0 Posted May 31, 2006 man we have all this bickering already, and we havent even gotten the league settings set up yet! its gonna be a great, competitive season full of trash talk! A league full of bitter bickersons. Count me in. Format doesn't matter to me. As long as the rules don't change after the draft (which happened to me once) I'm good. Dibs on Moss/Porter combo! (I posted this in the wrong thread earlier).

football_scooter 0 Posted May 31, 2006 Sounds like fun but I cant do it. You're all glad about that. I just cant handle more than my 3 keeper leagues. Have fun though. Scooter, you often have great points but your delivery makes you sound like a freakin' baby. (if i was playing i would support this league being a spin-off, 3wr no flex) watch scooter win... would we ever hear the end of it? Good stuff though! lol Hey, at least I wasn't the only one with that impression. In context it sure sounded like it'd be the same league settings. Look, I'm just not partial to flex - it's all good. If it's in, I'm not interested - it is what it is. No worries. It ain't the end of the world, it's a personal preference. Anyway, let me know what the league decides about the settings and I'll make my decision from there. Ps - you should all fear my mojo anyway...I beat out the undefeated team for a championship appearance in the GOIDKPANAL (or whatever that ackronym is) - a FFT IDP league. So there. Sorry SoloMatisse' I did not intend to squelch the league, I just was of the thinking that your idea was so great of starting a league full of folks in SWEETS thread who thought that they could do better. I assumed it would be under the identical format and not up for debate for a flex. At the end of the day it is still a good idea, and merits follow thru. Clash of the Titans 1 Posted May 31, 2006 per another thread..... SoloMatisse Yesterday, 10:37 PM Post #39 FF Geek Group: Members Posts: 1894 Joined: 11-July 00 Member No.: 1782 Clash- I couldnt help but notice in a mock last year on this site, you drafted both Tomlinson and Larry Johnson. And you went after LJ early and made that team look sick. Just a mock, but a nice draft youd run. We're putting together a league of guys from this site, so if you can stomach another freebie, this is an invite, and if youre interested check in under the "jerry porter" league. Weve got 7 or 8 and need a few more. You know what youre doing obviously, so youre presence would be welcomed. If not, its understood. we'll run 12 team, 2RB 3WR, PPR. let me know something if you can. thanks. -Solo thanks for the comments solo matisse ....with alot of the old guard not posting here much i think it's time for some new blood to step up and take a more prominent role on fftoday...i like this group of players...a mix of some solid old school posters and some up-and-comers... i think this league has potential...the league format is my favorite and i could certainly use another league of trash-talking ( outside of my main league)....it makes the game more fun in my opinion...so........... count me in ...i just have a few questions... 1- what site will the league be held? i vote for yahoo 2- when will the draft be held? 3- when will the league rules/constitution be posted? 4- how will draft positions be assigned? thanks and again count me in...after promising myself to drop down to about 5 leagues this year....i think i have room for one more..i wanted to do a college league but i haven't been able to garner enough interest ...i would like to also say i think grateful parrot...jocstrap....and mahsoonerz would be fine candidates as well
SoloMatisse 0 Posted May 31, 2006 Alright, here's where we stand players. We're looking to fill 12 teams. Thus far: Sweetness 34 football scooter SteelCityBlues stonecoldsoonerfan ellisonb11 Yippie Skippy jocstrap SoloMatisse Clash of the Titans We're currently standing at 9. Im waiting to hear from one more invited member, Ace08. That will likely leave us with 2 spots to fill, and I know there atleast 3 guys right now looking to get in. We'll sort this out. I'll post a proposed format for you Clash and everyone else here in a minute........ By the way, Ive actually got to work today, so I wont be on standby for a good part of the day. GemMaster 0 Posted May 31, 2006 Is this a free league?
SoloMatisse 0 Posted May 31, 2006 Here is a basic lineup format that has been generally agreed upon: -Start 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1K 1D/ST -There will be no flex position. -12 teams. -PPR , but specifics over scoring have not really been cleared. Id propose on Offense: 10yds RU/REC - 1pt, 25yds PA - 1pt, RU/REC TDs - 6pts, PATDs - 6pts, again 1pt/REC. No special bonuses for longer scores or out of position scores, or meeting yardage markers such as 100yds ru/rec or 300yds passing.... just to keep it simple and eliminate having to vote on this. But whatever you guys want to do, Im good with. On D/ST: 1pt for every INT, Fumble Recovery and Sack. Any Defensive TD or Special Teams TD - 6pts. Special Teams TDs are to include punt returns and kickoff returns, and any TD resulting from a special teams formation such as fake punt or fake FG score. This has been a little controversial in a league I played in previously, but if a unit is lined up in punt formation or kick formation, and the result of whatever play run is a TD, then that is to considered a ST TD. That is a proposal, but if you guys dont like that idea, speak up. Id add this. There always seems to be controversy when a player returning a kick, who happens to be on someone's roster, returns a punt or kick for a TD. Who should get it?.....the owner with the individual player or the owner with the D/ST? Im in favor of the D/ST owner. This will actually rarely happen, because most of the better players we'll be starting will not be returning punts or kicks, but it will happen, so this needs to be decided. I propose the ST returned TD points go strictly to the owner of that unit. K: 3pts for any FG less than 50yds. 5pts for any FG 50yds or greater. 1pt/PAT. -5pts for a missed FG in overtime.......JUST KIDDING. -Starting lineups would need to be in at 5 minutes before the start of each individual player's game. Or in other words, if your player has a 4PM Eastern start, and you want to wait until 3:55 to decide, you may do so. This get's a bit tricky, because if you wait on an afternoon player and he's a scratch, youd better have a back up plan in the same time slot at that position or on either Sunday or Monday night. This, again, is a proposal, but if you guys want to just keep it simple and say all lineups need to be @12:55 every Sunday, Im cool with that.....with the exception of Thursday or Saturday games, in which case only the players involved in those games must be committed to the lineup. -Divisions would be chosen randomly, and to keep it simple, I would recommend we use draft order to determine divisions. Odd positions would be in the "Jerry Porter" division for example, even positions would be in the "Curtis Martin" division. Football scooter has a program that has been presented to help us randomly select draft position, although I propose that I just take the #1 pick, and the let the rest of you schmoes fight over the other spots.... . Just a proposal. -League Site: Yahoo would work because its free, and so is ESPN. Ive actually never played in a league on either site, so those of you who have need to chime in on this as Im not familiar with either. -Draft date: This of course needs to be determined by the body of the league, so look over your immediate schedules, vacations, etc and lets decide ASAP. Id prefer to get the draft done in the very near future, so that our league does not interfere with any of the other SEVERAL that we'll all play in. And we get to talking smack that much sooner. Id propose one of the next couple weekends, but you married fellas with kids and wives and balls and chains take priority here. Im divorcing my wife as we speak.......JK. Ive missed topics Im sure, but for now, this preliminary info will get us started. Remember, lets just all stay flexible with this thing and think of the other members as well as ourselves. I want you guys happy throughout this thing while Im sneaking in your back door and stealing that leftover steak out of your fridge.
SoloMatisse 0 Posted May 31, 2006 Grateful Parrot you are IN. You were the first non-original invitee to enquire and throw your name in the hat, so welcome. Still 2 more spots, with again 1 reserved. We will have 12 by the end of the day.

stonecoldsoonerfan 0 Posted May 31, 2006 are we going to have fractional scoring? it seems to make ties much more rare. i played in one league that had no fractional scoring last year and it seemed like we had like 6 ties during the season. just a suggestion. yahoo (i'm almost sure) has a feature that decides draft order randomly. we can use that or the other one you talked about. also, the weekend or on an evening would be best for me for a draft. SoloMatisse 0 Posted May 31, 2006 Back in the swing.... On fractional scoring: Ive never played in a league that's employed it, but I absolutely hate ties too, so if it helps to alleviate gridlock, then Im all for it. Im not in favor of anything making our league scoring system any more complicated than it needs to be. That would be my only concern. There are other ways to break ties that are very simple that we could agree upon if nessecary. But tell me more about how youve worked with it in the past for consideration. By the way, we're at 10 owners now with Grateful Parrot in the fray, and I still havent heard from my boy, Ace. The last 2 spots are still up in the air for the moment.
stonecoldsoonerfan 0 Posted May 31, 2006 fractional scoring really isn't complicated. if you get 1 point for 10 yards receiving, then you get 1.1 points for 11 yards receiving, etc (that's just a random example i used). same for rushing yards, passing yards, etc. btw, how much is a passing td worth from a qb standpoint? 6? 4? 4.5? etc.

But tell me more about how youve worked with it in the past for consideration. .1/1 RuYd and .1/2 PaYd - once you've done it you'll never go back. It fairly rewards for performance, which is usually what people want. I hate seeing a guy have 97 yds and getting 9 points for it. 9.7 is the accurate way of scoring him. It's not complicated at all, and indeed, it avoids tie games. I hate having a game decided by a bench player, coin toss or whatever. We had rounded #s in my main league the 1st year and it was unanimously changed to fractional the following season. btw, how much is a passing td worth from a qb standpoint? 6? 4? 4.5? etc. Good question... and what is the D/ST scoring? stonecoldsoonerfan 0 Posted May 31, 2006 i'm reading in solo's post that passing td's = 6 points. is that correct? if that indeed is the case, qb's will be at a premium in this league.

Yes, that is correct sir. 6pts for a passing TD. Thats the proposal. 4pts for passing TDs in a 3WR league just overemphasizes the WR position and underemphasizes the QB position, imo. Good to value the Q is my line of thinking.

Why, are some QBs TDs not worth 6 pts? If they're all worth 6, then QBs value stays exactly the same as if they were all worth 4, no? Especially if somebody else is doing the scoring. yeah, like Yahoo.

Grateful Parrot 0 Posted May 31, 2006 On the FA thing. What about first come, first serve for an hour for the teams that lost a guy that week, then free for all after that. Example: LJ blows out a knee, that team owner gets a go at replacing him before the free for all starts. Just a thought.
