remote controller 143 Posted June 2, 2006 I still see Bryson with the 2nd highest fantasy totals, though this series of updates tells me this will be more Kevin Jones, more often. Lions | Schlesinger's role likely to diminish Fri, 2 Jun 2006 06:09:18 -0700 Tom Kowalski, of mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions FB Cory Schlesinger's role in the offense will be greatly diminished, he'll be giving up time to RB Arlen Harris and FB Shawn Bryson, but he'll still be a factor in the offense because of the need for his blocking ability in certain situations. Lions | Pinner falls to No. 4 RB Fri, 2 Jun 2006 06:08:14 -0700 Tom Kowalski, of mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions RB Artose Pinner has fallen to No. 4 on the depth chart at running back. esoitl 0 Posted June 2, 2006 id say Detroit is finally making some sense here Mooch was a fool to keep KJ on the sidelines for any RB on this team besides giving him a breather every now and then IMO the order after KJ shouldnt make a ton of difference barring injury Schlesinger is a great blocker and can be productive in his spot roles but he is a FB. he only had 9 touches last year, not sure how you could diminish that even more but he is by far the best blocking FB they have, if they mean to take him out in favor of someone else then thats their own stupidity
Mack 1 6 Posted June 2, 2006 It won't matter who's toting the rock if that O-line remains one of the worst in the league. They may have signed a bunch of linemen in the off-season, but I don't think any of them will make a discernable difference.
yostevo 0 Posted June 2, 2006 It should also be noted that Killer mentions that KJ has really seemed to improve his pass catching abilities so far in camp. Maybe he bought that pass catching thingy from "American Inventor". The inventor is from Motown.
football_scooter 0 Posted June 2, 2006 It should also be noted that Killer mentions that KJ has really seemed to improve his pass catching abilities so far in camp. Maybe he bought that pass catching thingy from "American Inventor". The inventor is from Motown. From what I've read, KJ is catching 100 balls a day, for weeks now. He says it's "natural" now. That's a good thing for his value in a Martz-run offense, because before he had hands of stone. I would consider him in the late 3rd as a RB2 if I selected a WR1 with my 2nd round pick. And I'll probably do this all year as a result, since he burned me so bad at 2.11 where I thought I stole him last year.

Schles is not only the best blocking FB on the team, he's up in the top of the league (hence the pro-bowl appearances). Problem is, he's not really a pass catcher himself, and that is what Martz will probably be looking to incorporate more. Bryson would probably fit that FB/TE hybrid role alot better than Schles these days, and that's why he's going to see more action at that position... JMO... JMO... while i know it isn't anything to bank on, 8 of his 9 touches were receptions and not runs its hard to say whether he can or he can't catch with that few attempts but ive always seen him as a FB with good offensive skills that just never gets to use them due to the position i suppose your right though, Martz doesn't really use FBs much
Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted June 2, 2006 correct me if i'm wrong, but Martz's offense in STL didn't really use a real FB - wasn't it pretty much a FB/TE hybrid?? JMO... If I remember correctly, there were a number of yrs in StL when Martz was there that they didn't even have a FB on the roster.
