tbone2370 0 Posted July 3, 2006 I think that either one of these guys would be a great 3rd running back, maybe better if one becomes the clear number one back, but who would you take first and in which round?

49ER MAN 0 Posted July 3, 2006 I think Benson will get more playing time but Jones will still be the starter. In a re-draft, I'd look at Jones in the 4th, Benson the 6th.
rebooters 1 Posted July 4, 2006 it looks too soon to tell. im not high on jones. id love for benson to take over and no RBBC but that might be another year off. this is a situation id like to stay away from unless i could get them in the 7+ rounds but i doubt that will happen. along with some other shady RB situations in the NFL, this makes me want to grab 3 solid RBs before round 7 if possible. this might be a pretty standard approach to the draft by many though. mtnman32 0 Posted July 4, 2006 I am wondering the same thing. I have Benson in a keeper league but am wondering if he is worth holding on to. We only retain three. I hope things become clearer before our draft as I would love for him to be the starter.
bgard72 10 Posted July 4, 2006 I'm a Bears fan in Chicago guys...we need to wait until training camp is over and pre-season. I tell you though...it doesn't look too good for T Jones. We just signed Adrian Peterson to an extended contract for (I think 3 years) for good money. T Jones wanted to get his contract re-done...but was denied. tbone2370 0 Posted July 4, 2006 The one reason I would like to have either one of them is because the coach runs the ball and they have one of the weakest schedules this year.
pacman_fl 0 Posted July 4, 2006 The one reason I would like to have either one of them is because the coach runs the ball and they have one of the weakest schedules this year. I agree with others in saying it is too early to call. Right now, I think things look good for Benson, but it is WAY to early. As for the schedule - I can't buy that one. The reason the Bears have the "easiest" SOS is because the NFC North sucked/sucks. BUT, I belive GB and Minny will be better on D and both of them are worse on passing D, not run D. Also, I believe teams are going to stack the box against the run until Grossman/Griese can consistantly beat it. Jones and Benson are power backs, but I think teams will find a better way to slow them down (seems to always work that way after a "surprise season). Tusekan Raiders 0 Posted July 4, 2006 If you had to make a decision today, I'd go with Benson. The ground work has clearly been laid for Benson to take over, APete was extended and he is the ideal RB2, competent and accepting of his role, while Hollings now can be the upside flyer at RB3. Obviously the team would love to have both back and run a RBBC with both accepting their role, but that's not reality. Jones doesn't have the most stable history and between skipping an OTA and grumbling about a new deal, they are clearly prepared to move on w/o Jones. Of course, the job should be Jones' to lose and if he plays strong in camp, likely will retain the starting role in name, but their is on doubt Benson will be a big part of the game plan, so even if Jones starts Week One, this situation could become combustible later in the season. Rookie QB 0 Posted July 4, 2006 I like Benson (especially in dynasty)
hipcheck 0 Posted July 4, 2006 I admit I haven't watched these guys much, but it seems that T.JONES puts up very decent Fantasy #'s pretty consistently, I think he gets dealt when the first wave of injuries sweeps across the nfl during training camp. --It is obvious that CHICAGO is setting everything up for BENSON to take over. I think BENSON can be had in the 6 or 7 th round of most 12 teamers, right? T.JONES is going in like the 4th, I think?
ffdude1 0 Posted July 4, 2006 the Bears want to start earning from their investment in Benson, and will give him every opportunity to start and star with them. Jones has some value especially in leagues that reward catches, and total yardage. Unfortunately, this will probably be the dreaded RBBC for awhile . Should sort out during training camp. Benson is probably the better value right now as he can be had in later round than Jones. IMHO
Portis26 0 Posted July 5, 2006 If Benson got into camp last year on time, NO WAY Jones would have play as much as he did. So.... with that said, Benson will win the job in camp; and be the starter from Day 1.
football_scooter 0 Posted July 5, 2006 I don't think Jones is long for Chicago. His failure to report really steamed the coaches from what I've read. Meanwhile Benson's worked his arse off. I'm not in Chicago or a Bears fan, but it seems like the writing is on the wall. Besides, Lovie drafted Benson as the best fit for his system - that kind of says something too. If Jones remains on the team, he will see the field. Too talented not to. But I think Benson is the Bear to pick in the 5th round. Time will tell and I agree that the preseason will be important, but early odds seem to favor Benson.

So.... with that said, Benson will win the job in camp; and be the starter from Day 1. Im not sure about that. TJ looked really good last season. He is a legit top 10RB in the NFL. I wanted the Colts to get him. IMO he has better Power and speed than Edge for years Now. TJ and Cadillac impressed me the most last season.
