Dont sleep on Joe Juri

Recommended Posts

I have noticed in a lot of mock drafts that I have done that Joe Juri-viscious has fallen to really late or not even drafted at all. A lot of people are giving this guy no love at all. He was a savior in Seattle last year and I honestly believe he is one of the reasons they made it to the super bowl. When D-Jax and Engram went down, this guy stepped up big and put up some solid numbers. This season, he is going to Cleveland where Braylan Edwards will probabaly miss a lot of time and wont be 100% for a while. This could be the opening for Juri to post some big numbers. This guy is a TD machine.

Keep your eye out for this guy late in your drafts, I think he is a great value pick.

Hopefully I didnt give away someone's deep sleeper....just an observation I made today reviewing some completed mock drafts.

Jurevicious is a guy that will help a lot of people during the regular season, but if Braylon comes back and relegates him to the #3 WR spot in Cleveland at the end of the season, he might not score much during the FF playoffs. I honestly think a lot of people are overrating his talents and his impact that he had with the Seahawks, but I will give him that he is a legit starting receiver.

There are some guys in Seattle named Hasselbeck, Alexander, Jones, and Hutchinson that may have contributed a little to JJ's success last year. Needless to say, Cleveland's supporting cast falls a bit short of what the Seahawks have to offer.

With that said, I'd take him as a #5 WR and hope for a bit of the magic from last year.

How can you over rate what he did with the Seahawks last year? The guy was absolute money while he was the #1 and he still put up decent numbers with Djax and Engram back.

He wont be the #3 in Cleveland, unless maybe you are counting Winslow as the #2.

:shocking:

I think maybe what he is trying to say is don't overrate this season fantasy ranking based on what he did last season with one of the best offenses in the NFL. He has essentially a rookie at QB now and in a totally new offensive scheme.

Kind of like Edge James, don't overrate him this year based on what he did with a better team and different scheme last year.

Joe Juri had Matt Hasslebeck (?) throwing to him in Seattle, while in Cleveland, he'll have the equivalent of David Hasselhoff throwing to him.

Receivers are pretty dependent on their QB, last I checked.

(I would, however, take a flyer on him as a deep #4 or early #5 receiver).

Frye is decent. I like the kid. I also like him to depend on a big guy like Joe Juri. Cleveland also had a horrible o-line last year and they are going to be better this year.

I am not saying draft the guy in the 1st round, just that he is a nice player that has really been falling through the cracks in some drafts.

I agree that #4 or #5 receiver is about right though.

If Frye takes over as QB he is going to depend on a veteran reciever (JJ) to help bail him out a little bit. Considering Edwards and Winslow are still "rookies" in a sense!

I think he will have a decent year, he will catch some TD's if they can make it to the endzone! I think Ruben will be a good RB to pick up this year!

I think JJ is a solid player who I would consider in the late rounds. But I don't see one 10 TD season making him a TD machine. When his seasonal TD average from 2000-04 was 2. Plus he's 31-year-old with a history of injuries.

What do you mean "if?"

Is Dorsey going to beat hi out or something? Its Frye's job. Whether he sucks or not, they dont have anyone to challenge him.

Don't get me wrong, I think Frye will be a pretty good NFL QB. However, he's gonna have growing pains. Sure, JJ's the veteran who will help him out. However, it still comes down to the QB having the ability to read the defense and deliver the ball.

2 things in Frye's favor: an improved offensive line, and Reuben Droughns.

1 thing not in their favor: their division.

Actually what I was trying to say is that some people think the Seahawks passing game is really going to miss him (based I guess on the fact that he had 10 TDs), and I don't think that is the case at all, I don't think Seattle will miss a beat without Jurevicious. Despite the numbers he wasn't one of their most important offensive players, and they replaced him adequately.

That said, Cleveland this year needs him like Seattle did last year, and he will contribute as much as the overall ability of the Browns offense allows. Which is of course not as much as the Seahawks offense allowed.
