Phil Football1 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Hey. So do you think Hines ward is a good #1 reciever in a 12 team league?
t.j 35 Posted July 5, 2006 Depends on what you mean by is he a good #1. He's a legit #1 receiver in a 12-team league. I wouldn't say he's a good #1 receiver. Probably bottom half of the #1s.
Phil Football1 0 Posted July 5, 2006 reliable #1 like a top 12....ur top wr pick
t.j 35 Posted July 5, 2006 Ok yeah, I'd say he's a top 12 receiver.
hipcheck 0 Posted July 5, 2006 WARD is a "Great" WR1, if he is your 3rd round pick !
Stars 0 Posted July 5, 2006 He's a consistent enough performer to be a no.1 WR in a 12-team league, yep. I've had him a couple of times. I agree, though, that there are several others I'd pick ahead of him, and I certainly wouldn't pick up Ward before the 3rd round. If you're down that low on WRs in the second round, there will be some great value at RB.
Walter34 3 Posted July 5, 2006 Ward is a guy that has been on my FF teams more than anyone over the years. Always solid and generally underated for the flavour of the day WRs. Book him for 1200 / 10 and sleep easy.
hipcheck 0 Posted July 5, 2006 I love having WARD on my team in Big Nationally-Televised Games. I offer no statistics, or deep analysis, but I can I say I always have confidence that The STEELERS will look for him in the Red-Zone and at critical times in the game. Sometimes we hyper- evaluate things around here, IMO WARD is just one of those very consistent quality FF players that always gives your team a chance to win. murf74 461 Posted July 5, 2006 I would probably rank him near the bottom of my top 12 WRs, but I guess that means he will be #1 WR on somebodies team, but I would rather have a guy a few slots higher as my #1.
fantasy master 0 Posted July 5, 2006 I would agree with most of the rest that he is about top 12-15 WR.
ellisonb11 0 Posted July 5, 2006 the guy is definitely a solid receiver and good fantasy receiver so i think hes in the top 15 WRs easy, but for some reason i just dodnt like having ward as the backbone of my receving corps. he seems to be pretty consistent, and although hes always underrated, i just wouldnt want him as my #1 guy. JMHO.
OB1 33 Posted July 5, 2006 Book him for 1200 / 10 and sleep easy.That's funny considering he's only attained those stats once in his career? Year Team G Rec Yds AVG LNG TD 1998 PIT 16 15 246 16.4 45 0 1999 PIT 16 61 638 10.5 42 7 2000 PIT 16 48 672 14.0 77 4 2001 PIT 16 94 1003 10.7 34 4 2002 PIT 16 112 1329 11.9 72 12 2003 PIT 16 95 1163 12.2 50 10 2004 PIT 16 80 1004 12.6 58 4 2005 PIT 15 69 975 14.1 85 11 He's had 3 seasons where he reaced 10 TDs and 4 seasons where he topped 1000 yards. Twice when he had over 1000 yards he only had 4 TDs to go with it. He is top 12, but he has only twice in his career been a true "stud" WR IMO. Don't get me wrong, i'll take him on my team any day, but to rely on him as your #1 is not automatic fantasy success.

Super Cubs 156 Posted July 5, 2006 Who's the #2 wr in Pitts?
murf74 461 Posted July 6, 2006 Who's the #2 wr in Pitts? Right now it is Cedrick Wilson. He was quiet the entire year and then did great in the Cincy and Denver playoff games. He was #3 last year and a little known fact on him was that he played with a broken wrist last season. But the future #2 is Santonio Holmes if he stays out of jail. Randle El was not a very good #2 WR. He had a receiving TD in week #1 and then went the next 16 straight games without a receiving TD. El couldn't creat separation from a corner like he can when he is the #3 going against a safety. El's natural position is probably at #3 slot WR.
Phil Football1 0 Posted July 6, 2006 the reason I asked was because i was offered Ward and Rudi for My: Shaun Alexander i wont though
ellisonb11 0 Posted July 6, 2006 the reason I asked was because i was offered Ward and Rudi for My: Shaun Alexander i wont though phil, are u the same as fantasy freak? i think u are, and ur trying to set ur reputation higher than ur other name.
Cuse9 131 Posted July 6, 2006 Hines is a great one. The best thing about him is he does everything. The problem is this: The Steelers are run first...second....and then maybe pass. He could easily put up numbers that would make him a top three receiver if he played in a different system. His name is bigger than his game in the fantasy world. On the field, I think he's the best. In the fantasy world, I would take him early as my #2 wr. He's consistant, he won't get you 0's and he has big game potential, just not consistant big games. swirvenirvin 25 Posted July 6, 2006 a decent 2nd round wr.. He wonr be on any of my teams Ward is a guy that has been on my FF teams more than anyone over the years. Always solid and generally underated for the flavour of the day WRs. Book him for 1200 / 10 and sleep easy. Not 2 years ago He has sucked ass the only 2 years I owned him In 2004 he was worthless and not even worth a #2 spot and in 2001 his 4 TD's were just not doing it for me
49ER MAN 0 Posted July 6, 2006 I think he's a very borderline no.1 but awesome no.2 WR. If Pittsburgh would pass the ball a little more, then I would give some more consideration to be a No.1 WR on a fantasy team.
