How NOT to draft - from FF Experts

Recommended Posts

I don't know what FF Experts is and I don't care to know after reading this. I'm checking out Fantasy Football Index's mock draft - and this is their "expert's" draft! Pitiful!

Pick #8 overall in a 12-team draft

Round 1 - CHAD JOHNSON!

2 - TATUM BELL!

3 - Reggie Bush

4 - Chris Chambers

5 - Mewelde Moore

6 - Curtis Martin

7 - Lee Evans

8 - Aaron Brooks

9 - Randy McMichael

10 - Jason Witten  Back to back good starting TEs why? When you have 4 RBs and only 2 starting WRs and your second one is Lee frickin Evans?

11 - Eric Moulds - oh now your WRs are saved!

And then a cast of benchwarmers after that - this is truly sad.

Hey one of these two SF backs will be a solid #2 possible #1 back as they run on the left side of that rebuilt line IMO...

I was just thinking the same thing...one of them will undoubtedly be the starting RB and have a shot at 1000 yards....biggest upside here is that they will both fall ....to me I hope...hopefully they slide a little longer though :o

Ok 3 things

1. Alex Smith

2. San Francisco Defense

3. Maurice Hicks/Michael Robinson

Vernon Davis is not going to help out this offense that much - Antonio Bryant and Arnaz Battle - please. Defenses will dare Alex Smith to beat them - and he won't. The other 2 RBs may get a few shots as well, Hicks looked decent last year.

No way in hell I would waste both a 5th and a 7th round pick on these 2 guys. They will almost always be losing, abandoning the run game.

....and the newest entry into the DumbAss Olympics is......NFL.com. The following are some of the "expert" picks in their mock.....

Adam Schefter - round 1 P Manning - not too bad you say? Consider that Schefter picked 3rd and passed on LJ after Alexander and LT went 1-2.

Mark Zimmerman - 2.04 Chrissy Brown

Adam Schefter - 2.08 Chester Taylor (LaMont Jordan still avail at this point)

the worst team out of all of their "experts" has to be Mark Zimmerman's:

1 Terrell Owens (7th overall pick)

2 Chrissy Brown (14)

3 Julius Jones (27)

4 Eli Manning (34)

5 Deion Branch (47)

6 Bears Def (54)

7 Adam Vinatieri (67)

8 Najeh Davenport (74)

9 Nate Burleson (87)

10 Jeremy Stevens (94)

11 Jake Plummer (107)

12 Mike Anderson (114)

13 Doug Gabriel (127)

14 Bengals Def (134)

15 John Kasey (147)

16 Daniel Campbell (154)

Yes, that is Mark Zimmerman - the Senior Editor at NFL.com who picked Chris Brown with the 14th overall pick. Maybe Zimm got him confused with Ronnie Brown (who was still available at that slot). And while I will admit that the Bears have a scary defense and that Vinatieri is pure money.....to take them in the 6th and 7th rounds? His 1st 3 RB's picked were C Brown, J Jones and Najeh Davenport! Each of them is a sprained mangina away from the DL! And this is the Senior Editor at NFL.com? Where do I go to apply for a job with them?

I frequent ask the commish website and currently half way thru there veterans FUEL'D draft...it is a great site and some good people....I think in a Norv Turner offense there is no way you can discount the RB or the TE....Davis and Gore (who I think will start) will be big this season....Barlow is great insurance for the Gore pick and this early they are not bad picks....would you question if the picked Dayne then Bell??? How about Julios Jones then Barber??....fact is if its a RBBC they got 2 good #3 RB's and if one is a legit starter it turns out to be a very good #2 back....I dont fault the picks...

I just feel Norv gets way too much credit, anymore, for a good run he had way back, while with the Cowboys. I haven't really seen any vaunted offesnses come from his control, in a while, atleast nothing to carry on the hype he receives in that capacity, here.

Are these guys on-line or is it a mag? What a joke! Apparantly they all got their diploma from the Happy Day School for the totally stupid. This is worse than sad. We need to get this man some help.

Agreed - and Kevan Barlow BLOWS. He's had his shot, and done nothing with it. Frank Gore may turn out to be decent but I see nothing but a RBBC mess there and very minimal running game.

And to the other question - this is Fantasy Football Index - the magazine. There are a lot more things in there that I cannot believe from the so-called experts.

In the experts poll for each position, a few guys don't have Anquan Boldin in the TOP 25 of WRS! Four of them don't have Roy Williams in there.

Some experts have the following RBs not in the TOP 25 of RBs alone - Ronnie Brown, Domanick Davis, McGahee, Brian Westbrook, Reuben Droughns, Julius Jones.....etc.

How are these guys - #1 RB on their offenses - #26 or lower overall for RBs????

So have you not heard of Ricky Williams or Randy McMichael or Lamont Jordan????....Whoever is the RB or TE in SF will be huge...write it down....you heard it hear 1st

I beg to differ. I think with just the addition of him, their offense improves a good 20%. If Eric Johnson can stay healthy, defenses are going to have to make a decision. Put linebackers or safeties on those 2. Davis will beat both in coverage but a corner or stud safety will fare best against him, and if they decide to put a corner or safety on Johnson that opens up the run game a bit more. They're going to get a whole lot of yards out of 2 TE sets.

There's a big difference - Ricky Williams and Lamont Jordan have talent.

We know Kevan Barlow does not.

Frank Gore - the book is not finished yet and will he carry the rock alone?
