Tusekan Raiders 0 Posted July 11, 2006 In London next week on business, so a couple of us are planning to take the Chunnel over to Paris for the weekend. Looking for help/recommendations: Where to hang out - anyone been in Paris for the finale? We're not looking for any touristy stuff, just want to know the places to party and best places to possibily see some racers coming in on Sun. Cheap hotel - just looking for a place to lock our luggage and grab a few hours of sleep Fri and Sat night. We've got a tight schedule Sunday even as far as Chunnel and flight out of Heathrow, so I'm thinking staying near Gard du Nord so we don't have to worry about transportation across town on what should be a hectic/crazy night. Thanks.
mighty_thor 115 Posted July 11, 2006 I haven't been to paris since the 90's but a couple of times i stayed at the hotel castex. Small rooms, great location, cheap, clean and a friendly owner. At that time they seemed to cater to young americans. they even hung an american flag in front. You can probably find some dirt cheap hotels in paris but they could be ratholes. Do a little research. As far as things to do, there are too many to mention.

Toro 1 Posted July 11, 2006 I stayed at the 3 Ducks Hostel when I was in Paris. Bunkbeds, 4 to a room, kinda dirty and the showers are outside. 19 euro a night and everyone there was looking to party their asses off. If you are looking for some place to throw your stuff down and maybe sleep, look at the hostels. http://www.3ducks.fr/hotela.htm
paulinstl 296 Posted July 11, 2006 TR, I emailed a friend whom until recently lived in Paris. She suggested the Montparnasse area. Lots of hotels under $200. Sorry, but that all I got from her. She did tell me that travel around Paris is a snap even without any French. The Metro is fast and easy. Have a good time!
Cdub100 3,901 Posted July 11, 2006 So my friend says the best place to watch the race is Champs-elyses, but you have to get there early Also as for hotels he said any where nice is going to be expensive, but you could find a cheap place in china town. Tusekan Raiders 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Thanks fellas. Yeah, cheap hotel, shoulda clarifed, I meant like 3-star/>$200 - I'm going to have lug along suits, laptop, and ######, so the locks need to work and I don't want to see the front desk wearing my fftoday.com t-shirt when I leave, etc. Just don't plan to spend more than a few hours sleeping in it. pistl. cdub, et. al. - you or friends have any party spot recommendation for Sat night...i.e. where do all the beautiful babies go to pre-party for the finale.
