BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted July 25, 2006 If you ask me there are 6 guys that generally get tossed out their as the best. If you had to take one of these players of the list who would it be? Chad Johnson because of the injury questions with Palmer? Marvin because of his age? T.O. because he's a head case? Randy because he's a head case coming off an awful year? Steve Smith, because he had a career year and the Keyshawn factor? Torri Holt, believing the Rams are all done and last year was the last hurrah?
akaoni 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I'll go with Marvin. Love the guy, but I think that he's begun to decline a bit. He had a couple of minor surgeries in the off season, and is due to slow down at some time. Further, I think that Wayne is going the other direction. Do the wheels entirely come off the cart this year? Probably not, but I think that his "upside factor" is the lowest of the 6 wrs mentioned... Oh yeah, I think that you have to add Fitzgerald to the list, he's a truly exceptional talent...
jgcrawfish 232 Posted July 25, 2006 Agreed, Marvin loses out solely on the fact that father time is catching up with him a bit. And Fitz does deserve to be there. He's talented, but is he better because he has the talent Boldin lining with him or is he just that good on his own?
BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I agree that guys like Fitzgerald, Boldin, and a few others are excellent players but none of them have been dominant for the last 4 years or more like Randy, TO, Marvin, Holt, CJ. Plus Steve Smith has to go there since he was #1. I'd say these guys are usually at the top of most lists.

I suspect that Fitz comes in and Moss and Harrison drop down tbh.

Yeah, but Fitz has only been in the league two years. 2004 780 yards 8 TDs 2005 1409 yards 10 TDs Give him another two or 10 years.

And Randy hasn't been dominant for the last 4 years...he hasn't been a top 10 WR since 2003. Marvin is Mr. Consistency at the WR position. The last time he wasn't a top 10 WR was around 1935. That old guy put up 1100/12 last season. Plus, Indy has a questionable running game this year, so there's a good chance Peyton's going to be throwing the ball more. Striker99 0 Posted July 25, 2006 It's Torry, not Torri. Anyway....I would drop Harrison.
Parja 0 Posted July 25, 2006 Any chance Wayne takes over as the leading Indy WR? :hoping: There's a chance, but Marvin and Peyton have such a great rapport with one another that I think he'll be Peyton's main target for at least a couple more years. And even if Wayne does end up with better stats, I think Marvin will still be top 10.
9-Route 0 Posted July 25, 2006 cj has peaked: he has posted 85-95 rec, 1200-1400yds, and 9tds each of the past 3 seasons. offensive diversity keeps him from posting ultra-elite stats; add in palmer's health issues. ssmith has had 1 great yr, and 1 good one. add in keyshawn and a renewed run game. holt has been steady at his 90/1300 production, and has finally strung together some nice td totals in a row (12,10,9). marvin is mr. td the past 7 campaigns (i cant harp on this enough---7 STRAIGHT 10+td seasons!!) add in they lost edge and might throw more. TO is on a stretch of like 20tds in last 21 games; throw in his penchant for bursting onto the scene and holding a grudge, and you'll see plenty of red zone trips (before last yr, his past 5 campaigns are td totals of 13,16,13,9,14). moss is moss---the most eccentric and explosive playmaker at wr in fantasy. when he is tuned in, he simply obliterates competition. a bad debut, quiet offseason, and new qb make for a tantalizing possibility this yr. look for a return to the top2, where is belongs. id kick ssmith out of this top6, simply because of track record. BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted July 25, 2006 It seems like overall people have lost confidence in Randy and Marvin. I find that very interesting. I can't imagine a bigger lock then a healthy Marvin Harrison. That guy was dominating when Harbaugh was the QB!
Raider 84 29 Posted July 25, 2006 Fitzgerald is a top 5 wr.
esoitl 0 Posted July 25, 2006 id be hard pressed to leave off Fitz but from this list id say Moss is the easiest to drop 2 bad, injury plagued seasons is good from me
roroco 75 Posted July 25, 2006 Fitzgerald is a top 5 wr. Agreed! Take off Moss and Harrison...and make way for this kid. He is tall, fast, and has tremendous hands...and now he has Bolbin and Edge to help take some of the focus off of him.
mdubz 0 Posted July 25, 2006 marvin if he's really that hurt. if not, i'd drop randy.

qimqam 1 Posted July 25, 2006 I am amazed at the results... Looking at this poll Chad Johnson has to be one of the most overated players in the league. He shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as TO, Moss, Harrison or Holt. Smith maybe because Smith has only had 2 full seasons but his best season is better than any that CJ has had
