jpcdds 26 Posted July 31, 2006 Per rotowire....not bad news but not good either Domanick Davis (RB) HOU 7/31/2006 Davis felt soreness in his knee after the second day of training camp, prompting an MRI exam that didn't show any new damage, the Houston Chronicle reports. Davis, who had been participating in one practice a day, is now sitting out both practices. While the Texans aren't overreacting yet, this is not good news. Head coach Gary Kubiak is counting on Davis to be a big part of the offense, and the running back's presence on the roster factored in the decision-making process for not selecting Reggie Bush with the No. 1 overall pick. For now, the Texans are going to see where the knee is at a week from now, while exploring other options. Antowain Smith and Vernand Morency are competing for playing time behind Davis
FantasyKing 4 Posted July 31, 2006 I've not had this guy for the past few years and he has been pretty solid in PPR leagues - only thing is that he appears to be a constant headache as to if he will play or not. Looks like I probably won't have him again this year.
Churchill610 0 Posted July 31, 2006 I've never had him on a roster before, but wouldn't mind him as my #2 RB. His weekly IR status makes him the RB equivalent of Steve McNair.
tecklc2112 7 Posted July 31, 2006 Save yourself the headaches and avoid him...He is a serious injury waiting to happen this year...Draft his backup late in the draft and sit on him
famousb 11 Posted July 31, 2006 Save yourself the headaches and avoid him...He is a serious injury waiting to happen this year...Draft his backup late in the draft and sit on him his backup is RBBC, and even if it wasn't would still be the RB on HOU - making him pretty low priority in my books... dreadlocks34 0 Posted July 31, 2006 I've always liked Davis alot and have had battles on this bored about him. I like him even more now with Kubiak in charge. The thing that will be interesting about him is that everything you read is completely negative. At some point it is going to push him into being a great value pick that in my opinion will help win leagues. IF he does stay healthy he is going to score a lot of touchdowns. Phurfur 70 Posted July 31, 2006 These are the kind of picks that can ruin your fantasy draft. I will not draft this guy before the mid 3rd round. (Could go lower depending on reports) I don't need DD on my team in order to win my league.
richgator 0 Posted July 31, 2006 I'm in a keeper league and pick 5th and the following will be available: D. Davis Kevin Jones Julius Jones Reuben Droughns Chester Taylor Reggie Bush W. Parker/W. Dunn/D. Foster/C. Chambers/ D. Jackson/H. Ward I'm in a 10 team ppr league. I think I'm going to choose Davis. For all of you that say you won't choose him....who would you choose in his place? I would take Droughns - he's solid in a PPR league , and then Chester Taylor assuming he is given the starting role. If he is, I might take him above all those other backs because he is a very good receiver. Edit - I didnt see Bush - hell I might take him above all those guys since he's going to be lining up at wideout a lot and will still get a handful of carries as well. SoloMatisse 0 Posted July 31, 2006 do you guys need to be slapped upside the head with a friggin' anvil to know a problem when you see one? a VALUE? are you kidding me? the only value play youd make with Davis is trading away Curtis Martin or Priest right now to get him, otherwise, giving anything this year to get him will be too much. there are values that youd look for in the 5th or 6th round.....or later....and then there are simply players that have red flags and rain clouds hovering over them......step up and recognize the difference here. tecklc2112 7 Posted July 31, 2006 Domanick Davis required an MRI on his knee Sunday because it was so sore. He just can't stay healthy. Although the MRI found nothing new, Davis took Sunday's practices off. He's barely practice all off-season and the coaching staff is starting to realize Davis is likely to miss playing time during the regular season. That only makes the Vernand Morency vs. Antowain Smith battle more important. Source: Houston Chronicle
Parja 0 Posted July 31, 2006 So the knee just keeps getting sore and swelling. There's gotta be something wrong. Wonder why they can't find out what it is. Maybe it's time to just lop that baby off and hook him up with a bionic knee.
angman 0 Posted July 31, 2006 So if DD goes down, who's the money on, Morency or Smith? I would have to say Morency, but I'm curious as to what others think here.

That's just speculation at this point. It's a situation that's worth keeping tabs on in training camp.
Dr Hook 6 Posted July 31, 2006 If picking 5 I take Bush. I do have DD in an auction league though. 1st time for everything

SlipperyPete 0 Posted July 31, 2006 As a DD owner the last 3 and 1/2 years (picked him up when he was Stacy Macks backup) in my dynasty league, I've loved to watch him play. I've also been following his off season very carefully. And I'm worried. Extremely worried. If he hasn't healed in the last 3months, how is he going to heal in the next month? One practice and he has to take two days off? If I could trade him at this point I would. I have enough question marks on my team. So, as someone that has been following him all off season, I'd stay away unless you hear some really positive things in the next week or so. And DD saying he feels great is not a "really positive" thing! Practicing, looking good out there and practicing a day or two later is a "really positive" thing. I hope that knee heals quickly. Why didn't Bush sign that stem cell research bill? He could have saved my FF season!
RW34 0 Posted July 31, 2006 Got Holt for him and a 2nd round pick after 4 keepers on each team if he stays healthy he could be huge, i just didntneed the headache
williemccoy 0 Posted August 1, 2006 I just traded him today for a 3rd round pick. I just can't deal with the knee

If he only plays 10 games this season he outscores about 80 percent of running backs with Kubiak in charge. Obviously you don't want him as your one option at this point. But you seem to have it figured out and we know nothing from your last comment in this post so I am going to immediately trade him for next to nothing so I am not stuck. Thanks. DBZFan2K 0 Posted August 1, 2006 good thing they didn't take R. Bush. idiots! Good thing they didn't. With that Texans offensive line, Bush would be spending more time dodging defenders before the line of scrimmage than after it.

No they don't, they are still trying to defend their agruements on why Houston shouldn't draft Reggie! Time to fess up boys, you were wrong! Houston had many holes to fill and RB was one of them. DD has never stayed healthy and probably never will. Buyer Beware doesn't equal good value!
tecklc2112 7 Posted August 1, 2006 More bad speculation this morning from the Houston Chronicle... There is concern in Houston that Domanick Davis won't be "100%" all season. He sat out a second straight day of practice Monday. At this stage, his projections for 2006 should be adjusted for at least a handful of missed games, if not more. JetsFan28 0 Posted August 1, 2006 I will absolutely take a waiver on Morency. I can't believe A. Smith still has a job in the league...he's flat out horrible. I'll look to pick up Morency late in the draft seeing that Dom Davis simply can't stay healthy.
