tecklc2112 7 Posted July 31, 2006 Javon Walker "stole the show" as the Broncos opened camp Monday. Walker made an impressive catch for a touchdown from Jake Plummer. He's expected to practice once-a-day for the duration of training camp. Source: cbs4denver.com If Walker continues to prove that his health is not an issue, he and plummer's value will bump up in drafts. I'm hoping I can steal walker around the 5th rd. of my draft, but I don't think he'll last that long.
ElvisMcCoy 0 Posted July 31, 2006 I'm watching his progress very closely as well. If his knee holds up he will be a great #2 and a decent #1 IMO.
Raider 84 29 Posted July 31, 2006 If he returns to form, he can be a #1 on several teams.
shredhead 21 Posted July 31, 2006 Javon Walker "stole the show" as the Broncos opened camp Monday.Walker made an impressive catch for a touchdown from Jake Plummer. Thas as many as Lelie got all of last season. I guess we got an upgrade at WR. Time will tell, its not the regular season yet.
Shakespeare 0 Posted July 31, 2006 Without the knee injury, Walker's stock only rises by playing in Denver. The Broncos offense is simply more dynamic than the Pack. And if his knee holds, Walker clearly becomes the #1 receiver in Denver.
Phurfur 70 Posted July 31, 2006 Taking nothing away from Walker's progress we have to be careful in preseason. If Mike Shanahan had said this I would take notice, but this looks like it is a quote from a local reporter. They are journalist and tend to sensationalize and on average don't know any more than you or me. (Unless they are former players)
EaglesInCentral 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Please remember that its freakin practice, who doesn't shine in practice. Its the same with pre-season, its freakin pre-season.. relax. Plummer threw a TD with no pass rush in 75 degree weather to a WR with no one covering him. DANNNNNNGGG Reminds me of pre-season 3 years ago when everyone was saying that Danny Wuerfal was the next Joe Montana and that the Skins were going to score 50 PPG. Second Place Don't Pay 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Plummer threw a TD with no pass rush in 75 degree weather to a WR with no one covering him. It was closer to 100 degrees at that time, making it much more difficult. Get your facts straight As for Javon, he'll be fine - but Champ Bailey's consistently beating him in practice . Quote from article: "The Broncos did some one on one end zone work and it was a real treat to see Javon Walker battle Champ Bailey. Bailey won their battles proving the defense was ahead of the offense at the start of camp." Belushi 9 Posted August 1, 2006 The Bronco's offence just doesn't pass enough to make Javon a #1 WR. They had two backs run for 1,000 yards each last year, and they'll probably approach that again. Shanny's not going to let Plummer air it out when he can win by running the ball. Would you put the game in Plummer's hands? Walker may overtake Smith as the #1 (still a big if in my opinon), but I think his upside is limited to Rod Smith's numbers from last year, which is a #2 or #3 WR. Any news of Walker running and receiving is good news to fantasy players.
PackYourNut 47 Posted August 1, 2006 If Champ "TheBestCornerInFootball" Baily cant beat a guy coming off of knee surgery, then that would be news... The verdict is still out.... Nothing to see here!
tecklc2112 7 Posted August 1, 2006 From FoxSports this morning... Javon Walker (DEN - WR) Broncos WR Javon Walker is expected to sit out the first preseason game or two. [-] Impact: Walker was reportedly the star of Monday's practice session, but the Broncos will be careful with him this month. He remains on track to play in Week 1.
